Why the capital reduction?

And how does it benefit those people (me included) on here that have been slowly accumulating shares at a reasonable price over the last several months or so? Reasonably priced for a worthwhile punt that is.

If there was good news (read that as -- very good news!!) coming in the short-term (Monday perhaps?) why did the share price not consistently move upwards last week?. The "Big Boys" always get to hear anything of value sometime before it is released to the poor suffering schmucks like us the small private investor. Inside information? Good Lord!..the very idea.

So what does this all imply then?

A fund raise? Perhaps. But, in the majority of cases, the s.p tends to rise just before any fund raise is made public; that is, in the absence of any significant news...not AFTER an announcement. After the announcement of a fund raise is made the price always drops.

I have to say I am all rather suspicious about it all.

Apparently, over on the "OTHER" board that is, someone is being hailed as some sort of P.R genius...after alerting every possible media outlet to inform them that Scancell is on the verge of saving Mankind.

Truly marvellous. Just what I want to be informed of on a cold, miserable February day.

How wonderful to now know that come the morrow every man and his dog will be piling into it.

Oh...how I most fervently hope not.

What is causing the upward momentum of the s.p? that is.

This should give a clue. A report today suggests that gatherings of all "large" crowds could well be prohibited for several years to come...far smaller crowds as well I should imagine.

Covid is going to be with us for a very long time yet...a generation at least before this terrible virus is brought under control; the many emerging variants will ensure this.

Not only have people's shopping habits changed forever...but so also their lives in many, many different ways; indeed to most of us now it has become almost second nature.

One last word. To all of you who think this is something that is blown all out of proportion. I have a very close personal friend whose wife is a nurse of over 40 years. Alone, before sleep, she weeps: anyone under the age of 60, at present, can hope for a respirator...above 60? Well...let us just leave it at that.

Just ask yourself this one question: who amongst you could make that awful decision every single bl00dy shift? Who lives today...and they who must now die. And after you make that choice...what else?

Quite simple: you have to try and live with it...what else can there be?

People who dispute this pandemic need to be taken into that ward where those poor, wretched, unfortunate souls gasp away their last strangled breaths. Might not be so obtuse and quite so pathetically arrogant about it all then. Especially when those eyes bore into yours, pleading desperately for pity...and then your hovering hand descends and pulls off the mask. The eyes roll up...and twenty minutes later...they are dead.

Millions have already died. Tragically...millions more will follow.

And whatever comments might be made, whether people believe me or not, in response to this post, I will not reply to them...I have said all I intend to ever say about this ghastly matter. End of.

Hardly a crime to **** up on the odd calculation here and there.

But this is and simply always was -- just a punt!

There is either large reserves of oil or gas (hopefully both) or there is not; and if not then we are all sunk...unless we don't all get too greedy of course.

As the great Warren Buffet is fond of saying: dealing with shares after all is just a case of buying and holding...and then passing them on when the price rises to the next available mug who comes along. Or words to that effect.

Next Monday is mid-February (15th)...and come the end of next week also it would be classed as towards the end of February(22nd on that coming Monday).

Come to think of it, Cookie is quite right, the end of this week is in fact mid-February...it will be the 14th on Sunday.

Confusing? Not really. Just another missed deadline.

The "Big Boys" will have bailed long before then.

As soon as it gets over 5p they will be selling it off...some before perhaps.

I would have to say yes to everything you mention there, OliGarch.

After all, its not an exact science.

However, it does give us, as the investor, some thinking space when dwelling upon whether to take some profit or not.

Kretinsky should be useful in this respect...and the opening up of any new short positions also.

regarding Inside information I should have added.

It is simplicity itself in this particular case...in view of recent events that is.

1. The biggest hurdle, industrial relations, now (hopefully) solved.
2. The complete restructuring of Royal Mail (and lots more to come) well under way.
3. The pandemic presenting a golden opportunity (albeit under unhappy circumstances) to take full advantage.

And what is more important to remember: a pandemic that is highly unlikely to completely just go away for at least a generation to come.

Social distancing will be with us forever and a day now...it was inevitable. One day it simply had to come about in one form or another.

And yes, OliGarch, you are quite right to ask the questions:-

"What do these brokers base their recommendations on?
Do they have some inside information or is it purely speculation?"

In my opinion -- without a doubt!

Royal Mail upgraded to £5.20 with the latest "Buy" recommendation...explains why the s.p shot up to £4.22 earlier this morning.

Interesting week ahead; plus lots more to come with the ballot result being announced tomorrow.

"We need to reduce the overspend in hours and gain control of the efficiency again. Quality of service in MC is high with too many hours."

Why people investing here are under the impression this is like investing in a business located within the UK totally baffles me.

Many Eastern European business dealings are on the same sort of footing as you would find in many parts of South America and Russia...much of it run and controlled by people nothing short of opportunistic and unscrupulous brigands.

And all p!ss!ng in the same pot.

Volumes seem to be quite a bit down compared to even two weeks ago...albeit still higher than normal though.
