I.m.o. Strategic reserves were designed primarily for that countries own use, not to necessarily help others. once again another logistics nightmare. Willb Japan supply China for eg .? The US with 1/3 of the reserve of 1.2b capacity can only release 4.4m per day max. and Japans location does not necessarily lend itself to quickly supply other countries either. The poorer countries such as Cuba not on good terms with neighbours and no reserve capacity are goosed.

yes production figs are **** basically. it will a logistics headache as ships already in the gulf are clustered and not where they should be either. is it safer to be close to a us military ship for protection or as far away as possible as its a target.

Markets are slow to react until they have a report in front of them staring the obvious. The reality is that even if the strait was open in the morning without any issues at all a "maximum" of 25 tankers per day at "increased speed" is the capacity - its a well "oiled" logistic supply, and with hundreds of tankers parked up outside it will take a long time to sort. plus lloyds have extended their geographic area further out.

Of the things they are in control of;they are on top of it and doing a good job. On the things they dont control they have influence on and are being listened to. Long distance trucking is a bummer and hopefully something will happen on the Oluvil Port. Funny you should mention the railway. I was only thinking about the feasability of a private company taking on the railway on a contract basis it would be financially viable for all parties and remove lorry traffic off roads.

It might have sounded like a brainwave coming from DT and the Oil price might have reacted well and dropped; but the market will soon cotton on its ill conceived and I expect OP to keep rising. The reality is the american taxpayer would be insuring each single tanker worth approx $250m and this would have to include when it was docked at port as well. plus what about ecological costs of a hit tanker.
