I wish Richard could have had more time , you could see he was itching to get in on every question.
Cameron guy told it like it was - Big Pharma bully their way to the front of the queue .
He made a very good point too about Big Pharma hoovering up too many trial patients in an effort to either prove up their own unsuitable drugs or as a sandbagging technique to slow competitors down .
And also jamming up the procurement for glass etc .
More worrying also was the comment on how all these big boy tactics are affecting drug progress for non covid drugs as well due to the system being clogged up with these Big Pharma Covid trials .
Richard was much more diplomatic - possibly not wanting to bite the hand that he may being shaking a deal with soon .
He was very clear on what Synairgens priorities have been recently - namely recruiting high level staff to commercialise and market the drug , and build capacity . He hasn't experienced bottlenecks as such - possibly as ,behind the scenes , much work and money is is being thrown at making sure when positive data is presented , they have all the pieces in place .
As Cameron said , if you aren't in a Covid drug , and can't pay upfront for the materials you need well in advance at the moment , you're screwed.
Richard looked very relaxed and confident . Didn't appear to be wanting to complain about anything - I take that as a good signal . He could have easily mentioned the lack of manufacturing capacity , or trial spaces , but he didn't.
The other panelists also seemed to defer to his superior therapy . The virologists both acknowledged that a variant agnostic drug such as Interferon would not be too vulnerable to viral changes . Also that the best plan would be to target those in need , rather than a widescale community based prophylactic - as it would be too expensive , and would encourage further mutations . Giving it to those in need at the time they need it . All agreed that would bode well for helping Long Covid too in theory.
They also wanted to see a drug that Govts could also stockpile for the next unknown virus , a job SNG001 could also do well .
Been a good day today for morale I think .
The TR1 , the new job postings , and this interview - and a SP that seems to be primed for the next step up .
