Maybe by then the EVs will be more affordable and charging stations ubiquitous… and this share will be worth more than a few pretty pennies and I have a helicopter.

Indeed Sodium batteries have low energy density.

But sodium is cheap to come by.

I can imagine cheap and cheerful vehicles (eg city run-arounds) that don’t need large, long-range batteries and then more expensive, “performance” cars that will use Li.

(Eventually even petrolheads will see the light and they’ll jump to bragging about the size of their battery and the distance they can go…)

How many times… producing hydrogen, then piping it to (non-existent) gas stations for vehicles to use it to… charge a battery. Why not just cut out the middleman and have a larger battery in a vehicle. Oh, we have that already. And charging networks are being built - don’t see much H2 gas stations being built (in fact the opposite).

It may be that large vehicles (eg HGVs) could be more efficient with hydrogen. Perhaps a good fuel for ships or planes…

Tesla’s battery storage division is doing very well (though other battery tech, eg sodium or Vanadium flow, could take over given mobility isn’t a criteria).

Will be interesting to see if Tesla do sell a £25k car - perhaps they must as they will have competition from Chinese manufacturers (assuming import tariffs aren’t totally restrictive).

Agree Sodium is at an early stage of development and not at scale compared to Lithium. There are plenty of proposed alternatives to Li ion but it is well understood and the incumbent tech. Automakers are exploring sodium - and maybe it will provide alternative cheap and cheerful EVs over time.

Just need to get past the current oversupply in Li - some say this year, some say next - and demand can only increase (and not just for EVs but for storage).

The question is what’s happening with Zinnwald…?

Currently every time i see tumbleweed roll by the share price sinks.

Hydrogen for large vehicles perhaps (HGVs, buses, planes, ships?) but not cars.

Producing hydrogen, shipping hydrogen, storing it, to put it in a car that will then use it to generate electricity… why not cut all that out and use electricity directly?

And no one’s building hydrogen gas stations; in fact they’re pulling out.

Electricity transmission losses? We have that already and that’s all worked into power grid calculations.

A threat is more likely from sodium battery tech (yes heavier, etc.) but I could see long and short range cars: small, city commuter EV (cheaper run-around a) - no need for a Li battery; larger range and/or higher spec will use Li.

GM, the DFS was supposed to be last quarter but then delayed - at the last minute - until this quarter. (And delayed multiple times prior to that).

Given we are now almost half way through this Q and there’s been no update to keep us all informed, then based on previous experience, how likely is it to arrive by the end of March?

We can all blindly hope it arrives - but realistically? More likely it will be delayed - and we will only be told in the final week of March. That is the pattern.

Perhaps thr DFS or excuse will appear on the 1st April.

If it does appear in the next 6 weeks: excellent.

If it doesn’t appear, what will be the excuses (we say to ourselves)?

I thought intelligent investing was about setting the emotions aside… I know this is the internet but is this a bb for kids or adults? Symptomatic of the modern world, everyone seems to have to take a side and defend it to the hilt… given the many unknowns, we are all speculators.

A little while ago, a link to the opinion of a retired Ghanaian military officer was posted (was long-winded but in praise of the ALL deal) - I am sure the chap said ratification in March.

But I’ve no idea how he had some knowledge of Ghanaian parliamentary procedures and dates or he came up with that date!

Anyone know when it is likely to be debated - and ratified?

Why didn’t the interviewer ask about the continued DFS delay? Ask him if it is on track for this quarter - and when exactly? But anyway, we need not worry, DFS (or lack of) isn’t on the critical path.

Yes, EV demand is set to grow (the rate of growth being less but only because initial demand - by those that have the finances for ‘evpensive’ cars - has peaked.

Now it’s over to the average car owner/buyer - I think we have to wait for interest rates to drop and folk (in the UK at least) feeling like they have some spare cash to splash and confidence the cost of living is levelling out.

US will lead there I am sure (assuming Biden and his Billions remain?)

Goldman predict a surplus this year. Sure they are in it for themselves - but they were correct in their prediction for last year. Just as ALL production gears up would be nice!

I would have thought they could be more specific on when the DFS would be available: they’ve now had just over a month since the announcement of postponement to this quarter.

(Re-?)stating that its delay doesn’t have an impact overall indicates to me a relaxed attitude, and so it appearing in Q1 isn’t likely either. IMO.

I for one like to have any “irrational exuberance” kept in check. This is an internet bb and everyone can express an opinion, ideally backed by some rationale.

On the matter of KC - he does seem to have a habit of talking bs.

In the current climate (Li over supply predicted again, and higher, this year), I'm not optimistic of the sp jumping on the news. So perhaps it will fall before the mythical DFS miraculously appears at the end of this quarter - and then rises from there?
