A proportion of the prison population want to make good, but cannot due to the poor levels of support for training and reform for individuals. Invest in training for those interested to or in hospitals for nursing and ancillary workers - also bring back the two tier nurses which can make for an easier route into the job. Some prisoners can then work towards developing hope, a career, quite simply a job and much less chance of reoffending - thus saving money and providing staff. Self worth is important. The most dangerous person in the world is the one that has nothing to loose and whose only hope to gain self worth is to gain status through the harm of others- and we make many of them in our prisons.
