I am a true socialist. As a child my parents were ill and we was as poor as anyone I knew. But then again most people I knew were poor too. I didn’t realise we were poor, neither really did most of us. We would work at anything for as long as we could to earn, it was de rigour. I lived in a council house and was lucky there with that, had a good doctor and everyone could read and write before moving onto secondary. I guarantee we were poorer than anyone in ‘poverty’ now and that was true for most in the late fifties and the sixties. If you had to resort to National Assistance ( as it was known) you would want to stay on it if you could help it. However, in the present; the people that I know that live on benefits have a car, fags, sky tv and seem happy. As an example me mates sister in law- never been to work, her two daughters never been to work, they each have 2 and 3 children, 5 of which do not work and have embarked on their breeding program, the youngest is still at school. All housed, clothed, fed and gagging it up. Also my work brings me in contact with SPecial Schools where there are increasing numbers of children with various needs from communities where inbreeding amongst families is a major cause of problems, -nothing is ever mentioned ( sanguiinty is the largest cause of child mortality in Redbridge). I am forced to give up on socialist progress, our systems are being raped. The great shame is that the resources needed by the needy are not there because of this. Sorry for the rant, but I speak of what I come across. I do not know of suffering of the poor as I would recognise it. I do see abuse of the system. Which is why when I make me pots of money I will look after my family, even as far as taking Kev’s advice and moving to
Portugal before I die. And 10 p within the year aimho.
