For the oil palm they use a general npk fertilizer for the early season and mop later in the year. Sifca, the biggest cpo producer with close to 70pct of the total CI production, lost heavily last year. Think the figure was $ 17m.
The main competitor on cashews is going to be Olam, with whom Youval says they enjoy a good relationship. Olam is essentially half owned by Tamasek ( Singapore Govt) with Mitsubishi having about a 20pct holding. Olam holds a stake in Sifca together with Wilmar thru Nauvu.
At the moment some 500,000 mt raw cashews are shipped from the CI to Vietnam for processing annually. Maybe in a couple of years time we will get some at the AGM...
