Yes, they are both Covid "vaccine trials" but different subsets I guess. The people publishing the figures you refer to include professor Beate Kampmann of the London school of hygiene and disease control. She is the person quoting the figures in the BBC clip so unlikely she is contradicting herself.
So as I see it the numbers are:
118 (BBC clip) New Covid vaccines in Clinical Trial
334 (BBC clip) New Covid vaccines in development. (presumably this includes the 118 above)
179 (LSHDC figures) are include vaccine candidates in development but not in clinical trials
599 (LSHDC figures) are total vaccine trials in progress. This may include trials monitoring the long term effects (or short term efficacy) of EXISTING Covid vaccines.

I think the length of time you have been invested does come into play. If you have been invested for years you are fairly "pot committed" and unlikely to fold.

Some people here have held these for many years. Some will be in a small profit, some break even and a number at a loss. To tell them to "hold em or fold em" is rather insulting. Many are not able to fold - and if they have held for 10 years - why should they?

I don't think it was doubts over the timelines but rather disappointment at the rate of progress as reported at the interims.

I did say at the time:
"I wouldn't be at all surprised if some "real" news landed in the next few weeks - when we are not expecting it."
The news Monday did take me by surprise, I was expecting it on Tuesday!

Well it's a good job it was only a great RNS and not a "blockbuster".

Yes, not a blockbuster but possibly as good as it gets for an early stage biotech. No serious adverse events and results looking positive.

Richard Goodfellow was telling the market once SCIB1 had been proved in trial, the company would be sold for £3.20 per share.

Today? 20p ish.

I'm afraid I'm missing the reward that you claim the market has seen.

You can't say there haven't been years of trials. The SCB1 trial started in 2010 and went on until 2017. I know four and a half years have now elapsed with no further progress but you can't put all of that down to lack of funding.

As far as funding goes, we managed enough to run the SCIB1 phase 1/2 trial. I know we now have more money but we also have SCIB2, iSCIB1, iSCIB2, MODI1,MODI2, SCOV1, SCOV2, Avidimab and Glycans. Relatively speaking, we are possibly less well funded than we were back then. I'd say saving lives in the Melanoma trial is far more of an achievement than jabbing 16 healthy people with an experimental vaccine would you?
