The latest Investing Matters Podcast with Jean Roche, Co-Manager of Schroder UK Mid Cap Investment Trust has just been released. Listen here.
As it's the weekend does anyone have a list of UK quoted small gold explorers and producers which might catch a bid in the event of another gold mania brought on by the printing of all this funny munny. Any recommendations especially from the ol' timers who were in GGP years ago would also be very welcome.
I'm new here and have been reading up the last few days of chat which has been amazing in terms of quality and quantity. It seems to me that the beauty of GGP is the gearing to the gold price. Because our share of the gold in the ground is relatively low an advance of $200 per oz to the POG (combined hopefully with an increase in the resource) would do wonders for the SP. Whereas a producer with a gross margin of $500 per ounce would get a smaller uplift. Is this a correct reading?
I'm not sure about Australia but in the UK companies are better off tax wise if they buy assets from another company rather than acquiring the target company's shares. Don't ask me why, I've been retired too long for that. Which way it goes depends on who is more keen to do the deal.
I often watch Ian King and consider him ideal for AB. He asks astute questions but he is no Andrew Neil. He doesn't interrupt, he listens to the answers and you can see he really wants his interviewees to give the best account of themselves possible. AB will get a good shot.
This is an excellent program on which to appear:
"His show, Ian King Live, is broadcast live at 1.30pm Monday to Friday and sees Ian interview the biggest names in business, finance and economics.
Ian also offers commentary and analysis on breaking news stories. Ian has interviewed two-thirds of FTSE-100 chief executives and several prime ministers from around the world.
Ian has been a business journalist for national newspapers and on television for more than 25 years, working for The Telegraph, The Guardian and The Mail On Sunday.
He was business editor of The Sun, where he was named business journalist of the year at the 2005 UK Press Awards and business journalist of the year in the 2007 London Press Club Awards.gramme is presented by Ian King."
At last we have genuine FOMO at work - fear of missing out. The last RNS was flannel really but it was good PR to build expectation and momentum in the market ahead of December by which time I'm expecting 12p. I look forward to more flannel before then.
