800+ grand sold vs 500+ bought so I’m guessing Lombard have reduced their short today and if so then they are definitely content with a couple of % each time?

We will find out no doubt tomorrow.

What Wiscos and Commonsence are doing is fun and I must admit I do have a dabble but I have had my fingers burnt every time I have done this.

When the share price jumps higher it’s very easy to be left high and dry.

Eg

Sell £10,000 @ 0.54p = 18,518 shares.
- £100 costs.
Buy back @ 053 = 18,679
Buy back @ 0.52 = 19,038
Buy back @ 0.51 = 19,411

When it works it’s great.

I did it with AML got burned and then tried again with SAGA and the same.

Started off with 10 grand and it worked so increased to 20 grand.

Got greedy so kept increasing and ended up selling and buying back my entire holding.

Hi Smorty. I don’t really know much about Lombard and shorts for that matter but I’m tracking this one really carefully and they definitely didn’t make anymore than 2p on that partial close last week?

Their current average is around 53p.

So Lombard have increased their short on Friday from 0.95% to 1.07% ie 0.12%.

The share price closed on Friday at 55p so let’s say they ‘sold’ their 410,400 shares @ 54p best case.

This means they will want the share price to drop to at least 51p to buy them back?

All very clever.

So Lombard have reduced their short on Thursday by 0.11% which is 376,200 shares.

I reckon their average is 53p (ish).

Best case to buy back on Thursday was 51p.

So their profit was 376,200 x 2p = £7524.

The share price is now currently 2p above their average.

Their choice now is to either increase their short by “selling” more shares to drive the share price down OR start buying back the 3.2m shares that they currently have outstanding hence creating a short squeeze driving the share price up even further.

I’m sure this is all part of their plan and we shouldn’t count our chickens just yet.

Yes an increase of 0.14% (500,000 shares) on Tuesday when the share price was 52/53p. My guess is that is their average so they are gambling on the share price going down to the 40’s?

Maybe they know somebody in the Bank of England?

If you don’t need the money in the next couple of months then it doesn’t really matter. Let them crack on and treat it as a buying opportunity. IMO

I started off doing exactly the same but it then progressed to hanging around the till and store cupboard ‘ear wigging’ to staff conversations and now the other day I found myself straightening cards and moving ones back in their correct place!!

I have never hidden the fact that I’m ‘all in’ here but do play around with a very small % of my holding.

Currently hold around 650,000 @ 60p/61p average so about £60 grand paper loss.

Real dilemma this Friday though because I have a house sale (hopefully) completing and it’s going to take all my will power not to buy more.

Extremely risky (and possibly foolish?) having all my eggs in one basket but I have got a good feeling about the Card Factory and if I am wrong then hey ho.

The only advice I would ever give anybody is don’t invest sorry gamble more than you can afford to lose and if you have got your health you are already a millionaire so none of this really matters.

If the short is increased Noisey then you SELL not buy.

If those figures are accurate (which I doubt very much) then Lombard could have reduced their short? Ie by buying.

Lse buy/sell figures should not be trusted though. Have a look at these 2 trades on WRKS today.

Both at the identical time and price and one is a buy the other a sell?

The Card Factory Shop in the Galleries today was the busiest I have ever seen it. They have about 8 staff and 5 were on the tills and the other 3 busy restocking the shelves.

Make no mistake here the results in January are going to be good they can’t be any other.

I have to share this because it is so good!

I really do think Lombard have dropped a clanger here with this short.

Since the ‘D word’ was mentioned 9 months ago the share price has almost halved.

The Upside at 52p is now considerably higher than the downside.

Dilution is not a cheap option. Banbury will correct me on this but when Saga did it it cost £10m in bank fees!

The Card Factory’s circumstances now are completely different than in the early part of the year.

At least another £1million will have been added to their coffers yesterday and the same again today oh and tomorrow.

The debt is reducing daily and there is no way on this planet that that short will be open in January so they have got just over 2 weeks to drop the share price to buy back.

This is going to be really interesting to watch.

The wife has got friends round the safty getting lashed up before their Xmas party tonight so RoxburyHouse has been kicked out so I am now in the Galleries in Washington outside you’ve guessed The Card Factory.

If the other shops do half as much business as this one then we are in for a bumper set of results in January.

As per my other posts though I just can’t see a dilution coming. When they first mentioned that back in Feb/April their back was against the wall and they correctly listed all options.

The best case scenario at the time was for all the shops to be open for the following 8 months ie May to Dec and here we are mid Dec and fully open!

The dilution option was mentioned IMO just in case there were anymore lockdowns.
