Episode 3 of Gold Town last night took us (finally!) to the first gold 'cut', though I held a bigger piece in my own hand from a gold pour of the BPT back in 2016! Viewing recommended.

Just caught up on episode 2 bringing a dose of reality to those who have not visited the mine or Tyndrum. I hear that George is missing digging holes in sodden turf that you don't find in Oz. I do hope that the BBC/OU will shoot updates this year. Does anyone know if it might happen???

Canonbie, I'll second that. Richard and his colleagues have done a great job to get the mine to the brink of production, despite endless problems and delays, so he and Chris deserve a big thank you.
As TB says, the documentary filming is all from 2020, so good as it is, it's the filming of episode 4 (I hope) yet to be filmed, that will be the game changer! Cononish in cash generation!

The usual Friday SP relax. Ignorant environmental warriors presumably prefer UKplc to import coking coal from the likes of Australia, America etc, at rather greater carbon footprint of the fuel oil consumed by bulk carriers and the impoverishment of the UK by paying for imports and not creating jobs and wealth. Do they want us to use hydrogen as a reducing agent in blast furnaces at ~1100 deg C? Great potential for launching the first blast furnace to Mars!!! Perhaps they would prefer to abolish the smelting of all metals from oxide or sulphide ores and go back to:

Todays sea of blue (or is it yellow?) is confusing Yayay's K9 companion and doesn't feel right for Doorstop. Thank goodness for Beller's green efforts and splendid choice of lubrication. On the fifth bottle? He must have cleaned out the Green Welly Stop Shop before some thieves did last year!
Happy Haddock, biscuits for LTHs are a plenty. The Woodsmith project of SXX (now AAL) started not long after SGZ and has yet to complete shafts and tunnels, while ICL's Boulby Mine (in 60s,70s when ICI/Charter Consolidated, later AAL) took over 10years to significant production. SGZ has the lead like Champion of South Worcestershire. Other contenders in Scotland and Ireland/NI are years away!
Eck sees the potential of more mines after Cononish and as was said in episode 1 of Gold Town, “I’m working with the exploration team,” added Jason. “We’ve located where we’d like to look next and we have a permanent geology team working with us. We’ll expand our exploration efforts more this year and then hit it hard next year." There's from the horses mouth! Charlie will be busy!

I thought episode 1 pretty good, as it gave a broad coverage of mine, all levels of employees, managers community and tourists. It also demonstrated the frustrating delays that I've previously posted here, that mining is always two steps forward and one back. It's dated now as 1 to 2 years old, but I'm looking forward to episode 2 next Sunday, I think. Hopefully we'll soon get news of production progress and then filming of episode 4 might start.

Baz, Extraction fans at the face would have other issues of increasing fumes and moisture going from entrance to working face, whereas the opposite is desirable. It may be that as workings and distances increase, a rigid duct in the main adit may be needed with secondary force fans on shorter flexi-ducts to working places. Ultimately, a second entrance/exit to create a tunnel-sized ventilation circuit might be needed to replace long-distance ducting.
