Can you explain how the food is delivered in the US, it appears to me that XPO Logistics collect the shopping from store and deliver it on to the customer, the rise in the minimum wage looks the reason for the shut down or as they put it so eloquently:-
“esculating service costs.”
Ocado have robots in their CFC's, capex heavy yes but ultimately they pay for themselves as they work 24/7 non stop
I'm sure you've heard of Kroger in the US, they haven't just bought into the technology, they invested in Ocado as well so we have a heavy weight US grocer investing in the worlds leading grocery platform or the OSP if you like. I'm sure they did their homework before splashing the dollar
I had a laugh at your 10 years ahead post !? Ocado leads the field for grocery delivery unless you can name another company that does it better? Remember the kids of today are tomorrows shoppers, you'll not see them pushing a trolley down an aisle when they can get it delivered to the door via their phone or Tablet, people are more time conscious with their lives hence the move to online which continues unabated
