I was slightly surprised to hear that they're outsourcing the delivery vans, one of Ocado's more appealing aspects is that they've done most things for themselves end to end, but it appears not much longer ?

Reading the link above you have to say that fire protection legislation in the UK is not up to scratch, the building infrastructure and technology Ocado uses appears to have outstripped fire safety ?

I did have a long term view for the record but the constant dilution eroded any value or confidence I had in the management of the company, they should have gone private as they are struggling as a PLC with all the additional overheads that entails and borrowing money from an offshore fund lacks any transparency (no word from SP Angel yet either on this) !

The director buys were laughable, I think they had some pare pocket money and bought a few million shares to make it look like they knew what they were doing, the purchases were less in value than the salary increases in 2018, they often reward themselves for failure, haven't you noticed ?

If they actually achieve a FY profit this time round (and its a big IF) god forbid what they're going to award themselves

As the demographics suggest it would logical to throw up another CFC in and around London and or the South East as this is were nearly 33% of the UK population actually lives, building it somewhere less populated would not make any business sense at all, you need to be where the market is and I thought Andover was a good spot, even more so with the head office of Waitrose just a short drive to the East !

Even when you factor in every piece of bad news the SP is still 20% above Decembers price, this shows how resilient the company is, the market shows its unconcerned....

No getting away from the bad news which has only served to bring back the shorters who are still in a state of denial as to how they got it so wrong here, any sniff of a fall in the SP and they re-appear like a bad smell..............

I was surprised to hear the sprinkler system (one of the best you could buy) activated but didn't put out the fire as it should have done, this may be down to the ignited plastic which can be difficult to extinguish! I'm sure lessons will be learned and adapted into the rebuild which is no doubt already being planned as we speak, the other CFC's will be getting looked at I'd imagine as well. The fire investigation report will make an interesting read.

As all losses are insured, the only real problem is the fulfillment of orders short term and can they cope with the demand which remains to be seen, early signs are positive but they have warned this will impact on future growth due to the logistical constraints and limited capacity, thankfully Erith was completed and up and running with spare capacity !

It will be interesting to see now how fast they can build a replacement CFC, the blueprints are there plus the expertise now, McDonalds were very adept at throwing up a building on a whim, one you've done one the rest is easy............

There was actually some good news for MDZ yesterday and not one member of the circus here in town has posted it, just the same old drivel
