I actually think that the ITV BOD unlike most FTSE100 companies would even welcome a bid from private equity but it clearly wouldn’t be their preferred option.

We fundamentally disagree concerning Carolyn’s motives.
I am 100% sure that she would welcome any bid for ITV - it would complete things.
She certainly wouldn’t pursue CH4 if it limited the future ownership options of ITV - I Guarantee that!

If the UK Government try’s to impose constraints on any newly merged ITV/CH4, ITV will simply walk away.
I used to think any possible predator would wait for CH4 privatisation decision but having researched the subject my view is now that with the possible exception of Liberty Global, the other possible predators would actually act prior to or not care about any Government decision.
Given the Government stated continuation of existing CH4 remit it has no value outside of ad sales.
IMO

…any bid will need to be from someone with more resources than John Malone.

The Q1 2022 numbers will also be superb but where this goes without a bid I am not sure?

ITV are indeed in superb shape.
Record advertising revenues and a production schedules but until they shake the grips of John Malone (the poison pill) I suspect it’s going to be challenging for the share price.
Let’s hope he buys or sells but his presence is destructive.
