Unlikely all the other data more granular daily FSA / Ortex data has it rising despite the share price rising.
Rather amazing actually

I don’t subscribe to any short data but most say the best estimates are sourced from either crest or ortex? - both subscription.
Either way the shorts seem to be at an all time high?

That’s the official FSA data of shorts above 0.5% - misses everyone below 0.5%
There are many sources and all are estimates.

I seriously doubt it.
But the accuracy of the data is always questionable.
But if the crest data is correct it’s currently huge.
Given the Jan update it’s not surprising.
The surprising thing has been the share price resilience despite the short positions increasing especially the last few days.
Someone has added to or built new long position.
At some point the shorts will realise their precarious position.

The shorts are already all in.
Look at the numbers.

Yes I agree.
For me me the best news was it wasn’t fuelled by shorts closing!
It’s genuine buying from one or several large investors.
Great news.

…..because someone has been accumulating all week.
We know it’s not shorts closing as they have growing and I don’t think it’s anything to do with MM’s Linkedin posts.
I assume it’s Kelso or someone else similar.
Time will tell as we should get an RNS to confirm who it is?

Clearly only kelso know if it’s kelso but someone has been accumulating and it’s not a short closing.
BUT the last bit is just IMHO.

It’s possible they could have been a buyer but I suspect many others were attracted due to the trading pattern over the past few days.
But it’s possible they were the initial cause.
It does happen when a large buyer tries to accumulate an illiquid share.

I bought about 50000 during the day but it took hours without tipping the price up.
I could have just bought 50000 in the auction at the higher auction price and that’s what many others did. It is easier to buy volume in the auction and usually the Market Makers increase the volume available in the auction as long as the price is high enough to bother.

Probably many buyers that couldn’t buy what they wanted during normal trading hours.
It was bid up since early on but there wasn’t much volume available.
I bought some with DMA but it took quite some time to buy a few thousand at my price.
To get any volume you had to pay a premium that I and most others didn’t want to pay.
Clearly many believe something is brewing and tried to buy but not overpay.
Certainly wasn’t desperate shorts closing just cautious buyers.

It’s then matched against the same info from the sellers participating in the auction.
Then the price is set for all (one price) and the volume available at that price determined.
