Robina, I used to have 11 funds with hl, have recently sold off 4 and bought more dividend stocks instead, they used to be very good, making more profit than the shares until a few months ago when the u/s tech stocks went out of fashion, since then i have been watching the profits draining away from them, it seems like the fund managers have done nothing to rebalance the stocks to stop this happening, makes you wonder what we have been paying the management charges , for, think i may be saying goodbye to a couple more

Dan of course i am, i don't know the answers so i have to try and find someone who does, any clervoiants here ?

Thanks Mole, I get my state pension from the end of July, but don't need to draw anything from my sipp for the first year, but hoping to build it up as much as i can over the next few years, not sure if you consider them the solid well managed company's or not, currently with VOD/LLOYDS/MNG/PSN/PHNX/DLG/LGEN and 7 funds, hopefully next year will be better, surely it can't be worse ?

Thanks Fleccy and compound, It is tricky i never know what to do for the best when you see the shares are constantly dropping, noticed the shares and funds have already lost value in the last few weeks, so probably left it too late for selling any off now, i did sell off a few funds a few months ago and purchased more dividend shares, some went ex div beginning of April but didn't reach the highs of last year, so held on to them for the dividend, so think i will just hold all the dividend payments on account until i see a good price for reinvesting, we are well overdue for a good year now, was hoping that would have been this year but seems not ?

That's true steve, I have loaded myself up on dividend stocks as much as i can, we won't be able to stop the share prices dropping, so collecting the dividends while waiting for recovery will help, of course if you can take advantage by topping up at a discount price it will be an advantage later on, but sadly there's a limit to how much money is available, will be pooling my dividends together for a while, and using it for that purpose, it may not be that bad of course ?

csdi, I think it was a case of sell in April looks like the recession has already started and might be a bad one, predicted Inflation of 10 percent interest rates rising energy prices going through the roof Putin's war escalating, but just my thought, I really hope I'm wrong on all of that, ok for the guys with big bank accounts for picking up the bargains of course

Looks like some damaging weeks/months ahead then guys, do any of you have a good plan for dealing with it, you selling up or buying up or just sit it out and do nothing ?

I think most of these big housing developers just bang them up as cheaply as possible, but it's the share price and divindends we are here for, so as long as the order books are full, do we really care if the bricks have been pointed properly etc.

Stevebt, do you have any connection with psn, do you do any of work for them just curious

Gary, as we all know Dan and Fleccy have explained their reasons for being in this long term, and as long as they are happy with their investment and dividends here that's all that matters, so good luck to them both, long term of course this may well come good and could work out well who knows, as for me, I will be a bit disappointed if this slips back to last years lows again but may consider topping up and lower my average if that happens, good point about the big investment needed in Germany and also Putins war is playing havoc with the shares at the moment as Dan pointed out, results out this month which will be the decider, so not sure what everyone's expectations are there? will let others give their opinion on that

CSDI, hi mate, yes of course I'm fully aware of stevebt motives there, have topped up a lot on some of my shares when they have dropped for one reason or another, but have to admit I have never wished one to drop, that's why I was teasing him about careful what you wish for, had some bad experiences of shares dropping but never coming back to the original price, vod just to mention one of them, but not saying that will happen here, so as long as stevebt doesn't mind me cheering it on when it starts rising all will be fine :-)
so up down sideways ? we are all hoping to make some money out of this, so good luck folks

stevebt, that's very strange actually wanting a share to drop, I would be very careful what you wish for, sometimes shares can take a long time to recover from a drop, not saying that will be the case here, but i will definitely be wishing it up

Yes always good to diversify a bit i think, but i have 7 funds and 7 shares and to be honest my portfolio as a whole is shrinking in value this year, not sure if it's the same with any of your guys, or maybe it's just me needing to change my strategy in some way, lot's of bargains right now for topping up, but not sure we have seen the end of the drops yet, maybe next year we will reap the rewards, can only hope, and let's hope we start seeing an increase here soon

Well depends what age you are !! it won't be much enjoyment though when in old peoples home, if your looking foe growth from telecoms and Lloyds bank, that maybe a reality, could be wrong of course ?

Christofer, none of us do know, that's the big problem, with Inflation and interest rates rising, who knows when the bottom will be reached, just the same with my other shares, you think your topping up at a bargain price and down they go again, think i will be holding back for a while 10 percent divi sounds good, but not if your losing more on the capital, let's hope things start going north again soon
