The tightly held Askari Metals Ltd (ASX:AS2) has taken a significant step in its African growth strategy with the acquisition of the advanced-stage Nejo Gold Project in central-western Ethiopia.

The company has secured 100% of the issued capital of Xingxu Mining International Investment Co Ltd, a Hong Kong-based entity that owns the Nejo Project, through a binding share purchase agreement with Xingguang Group Ltd. The acquisition gives Askari full ownership of the 1,174-square-kilometre tenement on the underexplored but highly prospective Arabian-Nubian Shield, which is a highly prospective geological region known for its significant gold endowment, hosting large-scale multi-million-ounce discoveries across Egypt, Sudan, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Saudi Arabia and Yemen.

The Nejo Project is located in a globally significant gold and copper mineral province and lies within the same greenstone belt as the 3.4-million-ounce Kurmuk Mine (Allied Gold, TSX: AAUC), and adjacent to the 1.7-million-ounce Tulu Kapi Mine (Kefi Gold and Copper, LSE: KEFI).

The acquisition terms include an upfront payment of A$200,000 in cash, A$200,000 in Askari shares, and the issue of 20 million unlisted options exercisable at 6 cents over three years.

“This project not only surrounds KEFI’s 1.7-million-ounce Tulu Kapi Mine, but also hosts direct extensions of its mineralised system, giving us a compelling opportunity to potentially discover a major gold deposit in the same district,” D’Anna said.

MF going to make myself unpopular and suggest if you have the resources generally a bad idea to concentrate it down onto one stock. You can do all the research in the world then something comes out of left field. If you have lost faith in one stock and do not want to be invested in it make a short list of say six stocks in a sector you know a bit about then draw up a list of the positives and negatives of each stock. Whittle the numbers down then do a deeper dive on stocks remaining. Then choose.

Clear from the webinar that offers were on the table but they did not reflect fully the value of the Saudi. Hence makes sense to not do a fire but come back with a stronger hand post TK. Ideally you want to sell JV or fund Saudi in such a way you do not need to come back to the market but can have enough funds till TK production.

Bonkers could lay out several scenarios over what could happen with the licence areas near kefi nearly all would be positive for the SP. As for why it is talked about in future plans the original agreement was the areas to be kefis on full launch of TK and obviously kefi will be in a better position over them practically as well post TK launch.

They had more pressure to sell Saudi due to delay and now have less pressure and more options due other developments. Kefi could not really anticipate gold doing as well, it was up in the air whether they would get the Saudi licence areas and the contactor putting up the money was really left field however all three were good things so the unexpected can work both ways.

Bonkers sometimes events change plans which is what happened with BCM coming on board the delay of AFC ratification from Christmas to recently and the award of new licence areas in Saudi including the Jv with Gina Rinhearts outfit and the higher gold price.

Toronto – Saudi Gold Refinery, a mining Company, has reportedly expressed interest in the gold mining sector in Ethiopia.

Ethiopian Investment Commission (EIC) on Thursday announced that Board Chairman of Saudi Gold Refinery company, Sheikh Suliman Saleh Al- othaim Chairman, held a meeting with Temesfen Zeleke, commission of EIC.

 Gold mining is identified as one of the key investment areas in Ethiopia. During a recent meeting with businesses in the capital Addis Ababa, Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed made claims that Ethiopia exported $3.2 billion worth of gold in the ending fiscal year.

MIDROC Ethiopia, owned by Ethiopian born Saudi Billionaire, has been engaged in gold mining in Ethiopia for many years now. In January this year, the company announced a $200 million investment in Bullen district, Benishangul Gumuz region of Ethiopia.
