Had someone try to use climate change as a reason not to invest in kefi recently was tempted to ask how many polar bears there were in Ethiopia.

A month ago might have been worring but tigray unlikely to pick a fight so near the end of the rainy season as they would get hammered by drones like last time. Recent splits inside tigray work in Ethiopias favour as well. Tigray will likely have it hands full with that till end of rainy season then by June next year likely Ethiopia will be stronger and Tigray even more split and weaker. Whole thing a nonsense anyway as Ethiopia do not want to be embroiled inside Tigray and Tigray does not have the strength especially after a damaging conflict and splits inside it own country to topple abiy. Askari have pushed back their vote on approval of deal into October from September but still no actual date given. Could be they are struggling and want to piggyback kefi full TK go ahead to even get to that stage or they have hit other "issues" shall we say.

Do not necessarily believe all or even most of what Askari is saying. Think the Ethiopian newspapers are more likely to accurate in this case. If the Chinese were confident themselves over their claim over the areas they would not be doing a deal for pennies with a micro cap. Suggests to me that they have been hawking it round and got turned down by other bigger outfits that did proper due diligence. Probably the plan was to hold kefi to ransom over the areas or piggyback kefi progress with TK hence them not doing anything significant with the areas. Clear that not doing anything with areas broke the rules before you even get into everything else.

Think maybe they do not tottaly know what they are getting into certainly their shareholders do not reading the comments on the Askari hotcopper thread. My take is Askari is bring used by the Chinese tempted to explain the situation to them and how kefi is likely to fight to get the areas back and how they could easily get caught in the middle and squashed. Especially their shareholders that have obviously been totally kept in dark to the whole background and the difficulties of operating in the mining sector in Ethiopia.
