You can see what my view on Essar is from some of my recent posts.
I would like to see the Nigerian Authorities step in here as they are effectively holding up the field development which is against the National Interest.
The Indian Government stepped in with their new laws to recover their debts from Essar steel but they have even manged to string that out for over a year now although the latest is that Arcellor Mittal will finally take it over around December.
Put simply, My view has always been that they would be trouble and that we should have taken the whole license.
Essar used Shorecan to get this far as they (Essar) only ever succeeded in P1_$$_ing off the DPR and NNPC and are no doubt still doing so.
I think NNPC should take over Essars 20% as a National Asset.
All just IMO.
Good Luck to us all......that includes Arthur and Kola who I am in no doubt want this project to suceed.

It probably wasn't anything as if you remember back in April Arthur told us that the he was expecting the bond to be in place in " afew weeks " or was it "SOON " or even " SHORTLY ".
Just like he was expecting to begin drilling 2 years ago.

A 5 code ?
There is an urban myth that MMs used 1,2,3 etc share trades as a signal.
50 years ago it might have had some truth in it.
Today, I seriously doubt it, more like some mischievous person buying to start the rumour.
The " 1 " code is probably the most famous as it is supposed to signal an imminent RNS.
You can google the codes if you're that interested or maybe buy 1 share if you want to start a rumour.
I am not counting on anything until we get real News which I sincerely think will be truly transformational...........if we get it.

Given the way Essar have behaved with their steel business, the Agamore nonsemse, the "legal dispute" which came to nothing then they are either taking a dog in a manger attitude or just being plain obstructive.
The Indian Government sorted them out by giving their core business to Arcellor Mittal.
The Nigerian Authorities must have a sanction over their own licenses and that would seem to be our best hope. Why couldn't NNPC just take back their 20% and hang on to it as a government asset.....after all that's what they're there to do.

Dunc: You think we are within 3 weeks of getting a deal done with Essar. Not long to wait and I won't ask what makes you think that.
I was hopeful of a deal being done last year but there may well have been a lot of negotiating ( horse trading ) going on. It would probably include some link to future oil revenues.
If they can get it and it might explain why this has dragged on then great. Essar may well have been trying to run the clock down on COPL but from the way the price has not collapsed after the last placing indicates that the sellers are just previous holders heading for the exit and not forward selling of the placing . The shares do seem to be being taken up by a few speculative buys but who's to say some big trades are not being worked.
Time will tell.

Also, haven't heard from Jiving since the placing. Given that he was talking to a few of the major shareholders I am wondering what his take is on things ?
Someone compared this company recently to TRP and certainly in terms of destruction of shareholder value in a small cap E&P company they do have that in common.
TRP however have put the drill bit in the ground several times and spent a lot on fruitless exploration with little explanation of what went wrong. They are a duster finder.
In fairness to Arthur and the team we got a comprehensive explanation for Liberia and I do have a lot of faith in their ability to do the job and get it right on what is a relatively straightforward project and not a wildcat like the deep water Liberia duster if only they can get things over the line to start work . Is it really this difficult or is it just Nigeria ?

Apart from buying the license in the first instance and then selling 80% to Shorecan Essar Nigeria have done Nothing.
That's why shorecan have built up a working relationship with the DPC and NNPC, something Essar Nigeria could not do......or at least failed.
The debts of the parent company are not really relevant AFAIK but EN would certainly like to get some return.
We really need someone with contacts in Nigeria as I'm sure there are quite a few people who know exactly what the state of play is......something we would all like to know.

Essar is an Indian conglomerate. It's principal business was/is steel.
It was/is seriously in debt and the New Laws in India handed over the steel business to arcellor Mittal. This was researched and discussed a lot last year.
Essar Mauritius is Essar Energy. Essar Nigeria is a subsidiary of Essar Mauritius and is just an office with an address and an answering machine....or at least not much more.
Enter the mysterious " Agamore " a shell company set up it would seem to satisfy Nigerian rules on Indigenous participation. They are now involved in this futile dispute which Arthur and cathy say has no merit and is not a problem. Exactly where that is now I am not sure.
Are Essar Nigeria aka Essar Mauritius on side with Shorecan???? who knows, but we have to assume they are as they certainly need the money.
Who exactly are " Agamore " ?????????? and are they a problem or not ???????
Essar Mauritius aka Essar energy sold off parts of it's business to Rosneft etc for 12.9 Billion rupees as the parent company was /is in dire straits and as far as I know need still need cash.
Doesn't tell us why Arthur/Kola have not got this over the line.
He could tell you and that's why individual PI's have attempted a dialogue with him to try and clarify things. These are the same people who are now taking stick for allegedly being company shills which is frankly rubbish......They were just trying to be proactive.

Finally I don't think the oilprice is the problem as the target crude is Bonny light a low sulphur grade crude that trades at a premium to WTI and the extraction costs make it profitable to below $30.

It should be clear by now to everyone that Arthur is a clever, cynical and manipulative liar.
It would have been better if he had said nothing.
It;s certainly not Jay's or any other PI's fault.

I actually had a small top up yesterday just to bring my holding to a round number.

I was thinking in terms of the UKOG geological model which is reckoned to be seriously flawed by many and our OPL 226 model of a conventional anticline.
I believe we have a great prospect/discovery here and that was my meaning.
No offence groover, I'm just getting frustrated with the lack of news and I don't believe in these mini spikes which are just market manipulation IMV.

UKOG is in MVHO a crock of sh_ite.

A knee jerk reaction now could well ruin everything.
I suggested some kind of Shareholder representation at board level on a co-operative not confrontational basis but it didn't get any support.
What is now causing the sharehoder angst is the uber confident Arthur and his predictions that have delivered nothing but dilution and massive loss of value.
It should be obvious that another cash call will just about wipe us all out !!
