"Renew Holdings is an Aim-listed company that does what its name implies and more. Think of every aspect of the country’s infrastructure network, from railways to nuclear power to wind farms to flood defences, and, with the exception of roads, Renew is almost certainly working on it in some capacity. All of which should mean that it is in a princely position to profit from the government’s £600 billion infrastructure building and overhaul drive over the next decade and its promised increase in spending on shoring up Britain’s flood defences. With the regulated water and rail sectors poised to secure agreement on their profit and investment plans for the next five years, it also should be in a strong position to give investors good guidance about the likely level of medium-term earnings.

Renew’s annual results for the year to the end of September were complicated by losses taken against the Forefront gas infrastructure business sold earlier in the year for £1, which depressed statutory pre-tax profits by 25.8% to £14.7m. Underlying performance was impressive, though, with margins improving, adjusted operating profits from engineering services rising by 19.3% to £32.5m and the order book up 16.4% to £510m. The dividend was lifted by 11.1% to 10p. The shares, down 14p at 361p yesterday, are volatile, regularly buffeted by falls at other contractors. They trade at a paltry 10.6 times earnings for a yield of 2.7% and must be a “buy”.

Pretty encouraging results and outlook at first glance.

The headline 35.5p adjusted EPS is up from last year's 33.4p, but the comparative has been adjusted upwards only due to the new rules on discontinued businesses.

Adjusted operating profit is up 10% year on year, and the 10p dividend is now a decent yield at this share price.

Most importantly, the Engineering order book is up a whopping 16% to £510m.

QTS is integrating well. And telecoms are looking up at last:

"During the year the Group were awarded new frameworks for Telefonica in the North and London on their latest network programme. We have also expanded our customer base with national programmes being delivered for BT Link and on the Emergency Services Network."

The outlook is confident:

"we have good momentum going into 2019 and look forward to delivering on our strategic priorities over the next 12 months."

2.2p EPS in H1, up 16% on last year, revenues up 11% on almost entirely organic growth - these look pretty good, and HMLH look extremely cheap at 31p or so:

This despite a stale property market as evidenced by the small fall in enquiry fees (which are a tiny % of income anyway). So a very satisfactory performance.

And the outlook is confident too:

"We continue to enjoy steady and improving volumes of new business with a marginal shift towards tendering for larger blocks and housing estates. Competition particularly from the smaller unregulated players who price keenly in the smaller block market remains strong. The growing awareness of the impending regulation of agents, now more frequently reviewed in the property press, continues to bring sellers to the market. HML remains confident in its ability to carefully select and integrate those businesses that are compatible with our service strategy. From a steady foundation in the first half of the year, we look forward to being able to update you on further improvements in the second half of the year."

This cloud software company based in London creates products that enable companies such as BT, Pizza Hut and banks to communicate more effectively with their customers through mobile and digital channels. Victoria Stevens, a co-manager on Liontrust’s UK Micro Cap fund, says: “Despite its relatively small size — £200 million market capitalisation — Imimobile is truly global, stretching from the Americas to Europe, the Middle East and Asia. As well as robust organic growth, the company is also growing by acquisition.”

It's ironic that SDI's share price has fallen a little just as sector comparator JDG jumps after reporting on Wednesday that trading is ahead of expectations.

There should be some encouragement from a fellow scientific instrument group reporting such strong trading.

Whitman Howard have issued a new Buy note, with a 343p target - here's a summary:

IMO is the leading player in Enterpise CPaaS (Communication Platform as a Service) in the UK and this is demonstrated by numerous multi-year new contract wins with large enterprise clients in the banking, utilities, retail and logistics sectors
Gross profit for Europe and Americas was £20.3m (2017: £13.8m), which is 70% of gross profit half year, growth of 48% YoY. Organic growth was 21% with additional growth from the acquisitions of Impact Mobile in July 2018 and Sumotext and Healthcare Communications in the previous year. H1 was a good period for blue chip UK client wins. This list includes Npower, and logistics provider, Hermes. This exemplifies IMO strong position in the Enterprise space. The acquisition in July of Impact Mobile expanded the business in North America. There are many revenue synergies between the businesses.....

....Gartner has recently defined the IMIconnect platform as CPaaS (Communications Platform as a Service), a cloud-based middleware on which you can develop, run and distribute communications software. The platform offers APIs that simplify the integration of communications capabilities into any app, service or business process. According to IDC The CPaaS market is forecast to grow from $2bn in 2017 to $10.9bn in 2022.

We are not making any material changes to forecasts."

Great to see PTRO attending Mello London next week.

I saw them present at Sharesoc recently and was very impressed. The CEO has done it all before, and no doubt has extensive contacts at many of the rest of his previous 300 telco clients.

Hopefully there will be regular news flow of new contracts coming along.

Great to see PEG spreading the word. Hopefully this means there's a good story to tell which will excite investors given the encouraging numbers and prospects.

PEG remain on a single-figure P/E for next year based on 2.56p EPS forecast by Hybridan:

Edison's analyst forecast that using reasonable assumptions on organic growth, and with further acquisitions from its plentiful financial headroom, KWS could grow its EPS to around 85c exiting next year.

That equates to around 75p EPS, leaving KWS on a forward P/E of 13.6 assuming delivery on acquisitions etc.

The risk/reward equation has certainly shifted at these levels.

N+1 Singer forecast 100.8c EPS for next year with the rollout of ACSO's solutions throughout Merlin's estate.

That's around 77.5p EPS - which puts ACSO's P/E at only around 17.7.

The PEG is just 0.67, indicating tremendous value on Slater's tried and trusted formula.

No wonder the shorters have closed.

News from Merlin this morning about expansion into China, with Legoland openings in "advanced discussions":

"Merlin Entertain-ments has opened its first Dungeon attraction in China — but without the blood, gore and torture usually associated with the brand (Dominic Walsh writes)....

....Merlin operates 120 attractions, 15 hotels and six holiday villages in 25 countries, including Alton Towers and Madame Tussauds in Britain. It attracted 65 million visitors last year.

Shanghai is also the location for the first Peppa Pig World of Play attraction, to be opened under its partnership with Entertainment One. Further openings are planned for Beijing and Dallas, Texas.

In Beijing Merlin has unveiled its second Little Big City, after the first opened in Berlin last year. It is decribed as an “interactive handcrafted miniature attraction that takes visitors on a journey through a thousand years of Beijing’s history in a day”.

The new openings lift Merlin’s Chinese presence to 11 attractions and further expansion is in the pipeline. During Theresa May’s trade mission to China at the start of the year Merlin announced plans to open a Legoland Discovery Centre in Beijing next year alongside its existing Madame Tussauds. It is also in advanced discussions to open Legoland theme parks in the country."
