Yes it's a big "if" but one can only hope - certainly no sign of another bidder on the horizon
I did start my position here north of a hundred a few years back but have since averaged down. With the divs and ignoring inflation, I'm around break even at 80p. Personally I try and invest for the longer term and ride out the cycles so selling at c. 25% below NAV, unless the company is severely distressed (which I don't believe Civitas are) is wrong.
Of course I fully understand the muted euphoria for those who entered recently.
I'm with you FTREB
They're just buying free money at our expense - How can the board recommend at c. 75p in the pound? Why not just liquidate the assets and return the cash that way? even if they sell at 10% below NAV
Seems one or two on this board and the other board are happy about this - Me not so much, the board talk about the headwinds in this sector blah blah blah but longer term that would change and in the meantime the div makes up for it.
Oh come on Lucy, you've had your fun, hopefully made a few quid from your short position, but time to move on now and leave us bagholders to suffer without rubbing proverbial noses in it. If this is as you say some sort of fraud (in spite of all the evidence to the contrary), then I agree we fully deserve to have our shirts lifted. But until then at least let us enjoy the extremely attractive dividends that any remaining shorters have to contribute to - who knows after just 11 years (I believe a relatively short time for long time investments?) at c.9% anuual payments we will be in here for nothing
I think Lucy's old news is priced in now and we are bumbling along the bottom until inflation sorts itself out - This isn't the only REIT that's been clobbered
If you got in around these levels good luck to you - I keep adding modestly to lower my average but with a starting point north of a quid if I can get sub 80, as a long income seeker I'll sleep relatively easy
