I imagine it'll settle down a lot lot lower than that. I'm not taking a position in this either way but if I could sell at 4.5p I'd be jumping at the chance.

WASU - It's strange but my assumption would be that:
a) obviously being more secure funding wise helps
b) perhaps more importantly - if people can still buy IAG shares now then both individual investors and II's might be buying knowing they'll be able to buy more at a heavily discounted price (and potentially shorting it on top)

So, if I've not misunderstood anything, I'd still expect to see a drop, but when the buying now tails off (perhaps when the subscription period ends).

For every 2 shares you hold you have a right to apply for 3 shares at 83.5p is the way I read it.

mint502 - that's what I thought I understood from the RNS too. Which surely means you've probably got a lot of buying now from people who will buy, take the subscription shares for 83p, and short the stock. It's pretty much a no-lose bet.

Like others, I thought this would be down a lot, but wasn't sure from the RNS on the cut-off date for being a holder who can buy shares.
Perhaps if you can still buy now and become eligible for subscription shares it explains the price.

Chrishar, maybe you should learn that if you've not got anything nice to say (or constructive) then you shouldn't say anything at all. Instead of obsessing about me, or other posters, and getting "fed up", perhaps you should focus on the actual share itself.
Since reducing my position I've never once said anything remotely like this is definitely going down, people should sell, etc.
I'm perfectly entitled to have a slightly different opinion to you on an RNS, or anyone else, or even myself previously, as the facts/situation change.
The risks/rewards are totally different to 9 months ago so yeah funnily enough I treat it differently. There's probably still a decent chance they'll do a deal, but it's a chance, and the value of any deal we can all speculate on (and therefore the reward versus the risk).
So instead of "targeting" posters maybe you should spend your time listening a bit more. I wish I hadn't hand-held so many of you bedwetters at 35p only for you to turn into vindictive trolls at high prices.

Chrishar - Comedy gold. You say no personal attacks and then go on to immediately post another long one. There's a big difference between someone saying "there's no hope", "sell", "this is going to be 2p tomorrow" and posting something like I did which is entirely valid. I would indeed have called those people idiots, and still would. They're every bit as silly as the £50 tomorrow gang. The difference is cretins like you jump on ANY post that's not ramping and saying this is going to rise lots today. That's just trying to hoodwink people for your own benefit, and to use your own phrase, ugly.

I see the usual cretins are starting with their personal attacks as expected. I haven't suddenly become negative, I'm not telling people to sell, I'm not saying they won't get a deal or do well.
That doesn't mean you have to say everything RNS is going to make the price explode. Like all of you do. Each time.

Clearly they feel the need to try to get these extra patents and don't feel the existing ones are encompassing enough - that's the point.

The lesson should be ignore 99% of posters who say everything is good news. Most people probably assumed the existing patent coverage was good enough. This throws this into doubt. Expecting it to rise on the news was fantasy.

graking - precisely. The results don't look as good as I would have expected earlier in the year and I'd been suspecting this hence the delay in releasing them. Might get some PI excitement upon open but doesn't read like good news to me either.

Definitely Fleccy - we're moving to a internet-dependent world (and are pretty much there already - you could argue it's only a portion of the older generation that might still not have adopted it fully). That's not going away and will only increase year on year whether that be each year of deaths being replaced by technology dependent births. Whatever happens with the markets and economies the internet reliance isn't going away and actually in these times of strife it's shown that people end up even more heavily relying on technology.

When it comes to trading though, markets are a bit of a joke these days, whether it being algorithms trading trends not fundamentals, governments inflating certain (US) markets to make their politicians look good, trading being hidden in dark pools / systematic-internalizers / auctions rather than trading during normal hours. You only have to look at the ever increasing volumes being pumped through the closing auctions across varying markets to see this. The markets get regulated then they find a way round the aims of the regulation.

In many ways it would be interesting to graph the prices of a stock based on the UT price (above a certain volume threshold) on each stock. You might find a different picture to the players participating in the volume during trading hours.

Dunno - in my experience broker notes are pretty useless and tend more often than not just pick the price and add ten percent if it's rising or take off 10% if it's falling. Then add some flowery words around it to try to justify it.

I fancied HSBC but probably depends on the US election. If Trump wins, and I think he (sadly) might, then he could play silly games with China again and HSBC get caught up in it, regardless of value.
RDSB I wanted some stake in now (about 1080p average) but wouldn't bet against 1000 or even 900p hence I didn't take a bigger stake. Regardless of anything else I'm confident their dividend will come back and even if it's much lower than previously the yield should be hefty compared to almost anything else.
Lloy was/is tempting but my gut is saying don't go for an insurer when things are going to ratsh*t. Barclays was my banking choice but I don't like the prospect of Brexit woes for any bank or I'd probably still be holding them (took profit on them a while back).

Same as me MTD - generally been at over 80% cash ready for bargains and only holding giants that are of national or global significance yet at downtrodden prices (currently just BT and RDSB, having sold my ITV today near the top, but may buy back - though they're slightly more speculative).

Everyone is probably already fixed in their views, whether that be dead cert, good chance of a good deal, on a knife edge, or a no-hoper. Those in the first two categories don't want to focus on the risk and those in the latter don't want to obsess about the positives.
Everyone's placed their bets and we shall just have to see where the dice land (so I've got little to add bar the occasional joke :p).
It means nothing really but I do think the price has held up surprisingly well considering the continued lack of news (which I would take comfort from if holding a sizeable amount - although it is only temporary comfort - until news lands giving more clarity on the future).
