Markets are like politicians at the moment.
It's all about the next 3-6 months, thematic investing, trends, obsessions with growth above all else, etc.
If measured against the revenue/profit/etc the share price makes no sense.....however if you ignore the actual money being made by the company (and even more going to be made with things like the new vulcan plant) and narrow your vision to a myopic "are metals prices rising" or "are metals prices falling" the share price makes sense.
It's the "why buy now, it's falling, and metals prices aren't yet rising" mentality. Value rarely comes into it. Things in downtrends can see companies priced totally ridiculously until an inflection point (often completely spurious) before heading in the other direction for a continued period.
I would have made far bigger gains in recent years, riding my winners longer, even well beyond what I thought was justified as a rise, with this kind of mentality (and no doubt propped up by algo/trend/techy trading awash in the market).
