Because DHSC and PHE keep changing what they want, as LFTs are rolled out to various groups and issues arise. We've seen the TPP for LFT and the assessment criteria changes several times in the last couple of months. I think we'll see them settle on anterior and/or saliva sampling, and the various LFT companies will be tweaking their tests accordingly.

We may manufacture other sample type LFTs in the meantime but I think our DHSC-initiated manufacture will really take off when updated anterior nasal and saliva tests have been assessed by PHE Porton Down and greenlighted.

It is certified to the same standard our mask is - EN14683 (see the RMS RNS of 22 January https://www.lse.co.uk/rns/RMS/en14683-certification-commissioning-update-lrw72e34mggmg8s.html )

The reality is there are a number of virucidal masks out there. But the market for mask is huge and will not be going away any time soon. Everyone will make money.

I don't think we can necessarily to the maths like that, as we don't have all the pieces as not all the relevant information has been published. We know they've got a contract for £503m and an order for 20 million tests - but we don't know if anything else is covered off in the £503m contract.

My view is that the government will select one or more 'sovereign tests' that will be manufactured by ODX and others. These will not be at the same price that they have been paying (effectively at retail) to date. It'll be less.

That said, ODX is going to be laughing as, with TT, it can basically produce anybody's LFT ... and the volumes required will still makes this a very profitable exercise, even if the IP holders have to agree a lower than market price with DHSC.

And then you can add on the third party sales under your own branding...

'Wet market' has been misused by the media. In China, a wet market is basically any market that sell fresh produce.

The zoonosis may have arisen from a 'live animal' market. But then we have to remember that the Chinese are not the only people who still have live animal meat markets. They still exist in Europe and the US ... an uncomfortable fact for those who like to blame everything on the Chinese (not that you are of course).

Yes it is. It was a silly and ignorant statement.

Firstly, we still do not have a definitive answer to how the virus emerged.

Secondly, China was very quick in locking down (Far quicker than the UK or US) - but due to the interconnectivity of the modern world, it's very difficult to isolate a country - particularly if it share multiple land borders as China does.

Thirdly, you'll find it isn't the Chinese who have been price gouging but the intermediaries/retailers who sell Chinese produced products. It's what has made so many Tory donors and hangers on so rich.

This will make money but it's going to be in different markets than people might think.

Talking to our IPC lead, their view is that the mask will be of limited use in most healthcare settings. Other IPC considerations mean masks will be changed more frequently - and the other Type IIR/N95 masks available are fit for purpose. This won't replace FFP3 respirators.

His view is that the mask is probably going to be best in the travel and leisure markets, and public personal use.
