I don’t think we need to read more into this than necessary. Some people just like to be up front with what they are doing particularly in an environment where all the advice is “sit on your hands”. Everyone’s circumstances and needs are different and how they view their actions - I don’t think we need to hear of every sell that takes place but as I say, maybe it is just someone being up front at a time when ordinarily waiting for news would be a time to hold. DA - I think Singer means the YouGov website and search for CGT calculator - looks to me (not knowing your full circumstances) that you are in the region of £45k plus in CGT to pay but as said before, if you do not need it all at once then you could spread encashments over 2 tax years (I.e up to 5th April and then 6th April onwards). This gives you 2 x tax allowances rather than just one if you encash it all in the same tax year. You can spread it over even more years to access more tax allowances and hence reduce down the amount of CGT you pay, but of course this may be undone by GGP accumulating more and more gains for you. An IFA may be worth a shout.

Don’t be sad DGR all of mine is in my SIPP but you can still access 25% of the first just over £1m as tax free cash and the rest you can draw down as an income whenever you need it. Far from being sad I am going to retire early and have a whale of a time!!! Good luck all!!!

Sorry HtoH but this deal yet again shows DW’s negotiating skills at their best to ensure we as shareholders have yet another crack at discovering the thick oily stuff. They are drilling Peregrine with 2bn barrels to aim at (albeit the 2 drills will initially target just over 1bn to start with) and DW has secured substantial funding towards it - we live to fight another day - well done DW and his Team - now we need a drill to hit!! VGLA 88ers!!!

Hi ejt - I thought I would use an exit strategy when I first bought in back in 2017 at 1.28p but now I am hoping I never have to sell. I will retire soon and will just drawdown the income I need to really enjoy life and the rest I will leave to accumulate - if we get bought out then the journey ends, but for as long as GH is at the helm I truly feel as safe as houses. Of course I will keep a very close eye on my investment but this share has made my life perfect and thanks to all the wise owls on this board that allowed me to hold when others sold out (e.g, when Newmont walked) - good luck to you and all Greatlanders!!!

Hi Golden - just had a quick check back on our SP and 1st March it was 4.2p - 1st June it was 11.00p - 1st Sept it was 15.6p and today 1st Dec shall we call it 28.0p amongst friends - aren’t we the lucky ones to be part of such a linear but astronomical share rise and long may it continue!!! Congrats to GH/CB and our BoD for delivering so well to their shareholders (as well as themselves) - wowzers!!
