Convenience DMS21 Feb 2019 19:49
Semicast categorises SmartEye and Jungo together and states Jungo is a convenience DMS. After Colins tweet today, is this good news for any 'Convenience' DMS provider wishing to put it's wares in a car for the European market?

Compromise Amendments GVSR do suggest link between camera DMS & accident safety recorder. Suggests need for high availability (>99%), real-time processing & ISO 26262 compliance. Camera DMS will be a safety (not a convenience) system in Europe.

Better language to describe DMS market segmentation:
1. Mission-critical, real-time performance & ISO26262 compliant:

(Fovio FPGA), Nvidia (Xavier SoC).
Xavier looks almost DoA (30W is too much power for ADAS w/DMS). Volvo may be only OEM win.

2. Non-mission-critical (e.g. HMI, interior cabin sensor etc.) & low performance (frame buffered): Eyeris, Eyesight, Jungo, Smarteye (all run on i.MX8 MCU, TDA3x, Snapdragon, Nvidia Tegra K/X GPUs etc.).

Jungo confirms camera DMS DWs in Japan & China. “Convenience DMS” looking crowded & has potential to turn into low price blood bath. “Safety DMS” (ISO 26262 compliant) likely to offer better price stability & longevity, but is a much more demanding application of the tech
