@Numnut, Your post is clear and concise, basically telling it like it is without embellishment. However I can't agree with the proposition regarding shareholders funds. In the same way that some posties held the free shares others didn't, a percentage spent the money on pleasure.
Some shareholders invested because they needed the difference between low bank interest and expected dividend. Now they are possibly at wits end when considering the reduced capital. Fact is of course that society is made up of the haves and have nots.
So when an RMG employee fills the discussion board with anti shareholder rhetoric. It tends to "get backs up"
I believe what has happened during pay negotiation is quite similar. The unrealistic approach by the CWU is seen as a threat by the board and they have moved to show they will not be intimidated.
I agree 2% should be improved upon. From memory the CEO had a salary increase of 3.5% Staff should receive the same 3.5% increase.

I think the point made generally was responding to the constant objection to shareholders receiving some income form dividends which doesn't come near to solving the losses. It being that posties aren't paying the CEO salary from their pockets. Whereas they are paying TP salary directly from their subscriptions.
Your Ronnie Kray is a better fit perhaps for personality but TP wouldn't get through my door with his attitude. Ronnie Kray however would probably use his boot.

Oli. Can't say I agree with your evaluation of TP's skill set. Perhaps the CEO left his remuneration to the Company to award what they thought correct. He was awarded 3 8% not excessive.
TP on the other hand went in high and got cut off at the knees. Not a skilled negotiater at all. More an East End used car dealer.

We can only assume the CWU members consider their subs well spent as the hierarchy as still in situ. I do hope the current action proves more fruitful than last time around. Could get quite unpleasant if the members were calling for the subs to be returned.

Annualised, sorry "Flexi" hours may suit office workers who are logging on and working from home however there is a good percentage of current posties that started the job on the basis that they would finish in time to collect their kids from school. With the proposal to move start times forward by three hours this would mean rearranging their whole family life so potentially meaning that their partner would need to change their working hours in order to collect their children
