You can of course arrange for dividend to be paid as a 'Stock dividend' where shares are issued to the value. - Wise old bird that Sotolo is, I'm sure he knows this already. - I only mention it as it could be used as a counter argument.
Agree Dasut
The key is confidence. - Confidence can only be restored when ounces and profits improve, targets met and it starts to do what it says on the tin. - Until it happens, it doesn't matter how much verbage is flying around, the mindset of the market and the P/E ratio will be influenced more by past history. IMO
Hi Candid
Agree - no credits awarded yet for MH so hoping he can earn them. - You don't get medals for talking or saying, you get them for doing and showing - . I know Tibbs has a lot of faith in him and for me that is encouraging. - Truth quarter, Q3, may provide a clue as to how we proceed from here.
I like the idea Cowichan - It would be a bonus for existing shareholders if it came about. - Obviously, I can't say about MH, but the forces at play within Centamin in recent times have not been about the best interests of shareholders.- It's only been about their own best interests. - Even the chair of Endeavour picked-up on this.- Unless there has been a dramatic change in mindset and I'm not talking about a dramatic change in rhetoric, it's unlikely that things have changed.
There's a new buzz-word emerging, taken from the Lexicon that comes with the new-world of crypto-derivatives.
'Impermanent'. - So, at any given time, providing you haven't sold your position, you can be holding and 'Impermanent' loss or an 'Impermanent' gain.
Because China/Russia have accumulated so much gold, is part of their plan to make gold redundant and in doing so scupper their plans going forward? -They seem to be trying to achieve this in every other respect. - Given the history of gold, you would have to think this will be a difficult task. - Ordinarily it would be, but when you control the world's currency/monetary system already, maybe not so much of a task.
UK Gov.not in the gold-buying business. - America in the same camp. - Between them they are able to control/manipulate the price. - What is their plan i wonder? - How will it affect the market going forward? - Is there a cunning-plan in play. - How long can it play-out? - My fear is, a lot longer than those influenced by KWN commentators might imagine. - I'm not talking months - nor years. - Decades perhaps.
Dividends is a much talked about subject on this thread.
I've just been looking at a share this morning - Montanaro European Smaller Companies Trust. - MTE.
Since 2015 the SP has grown 400% and on top of that they have paid an average annual dividend yield of 12%.
Just Saying.
Good to see Ross Gerard buying a few more shares. - I believe the closed-period is 30 days either side of a reporting date. - So, there is still a few days left for directors/pdmr to deal shares ahead of Oct.19th. - The purchase of 15000 shares is not a big deal but at least it's not a sell. - Having said that I'm keeping a watchful eye for any sells that may materialize in the remaining days. - If it happens and it's substantial, I would be concerned.
Hi Cowichan
I suspect your comments are finding their mark, hitting a sore spot as it were.. - I don't know how they'll get away with disposal without revealing the key-facts connected to the Burkino Faso assets. - One of the first tests that MH has to face in demonstrating his sincerity/credibility.- Let's see how he performs on this one.
Hi Cooperman
How are you? - I recognize your name. - You've been around in the 'Gold-space' for quite a while now.- Hope you are well.
Regarding your comment concerning dividend and share-price. - Naturally it's good to collect a dividend, we all want and look forward to that. Unfortunately, in recent years, if you were a buy and hold investor, for every pint of dividend received, a gallon of share-price has been sacrificed to pay for it. - The thing is, at first sight, the fundamentals present as an attractive proposition. - Unfortunately, this was supplemented by exaggerated forecasting, reinforcing the buy and hold philosophy. - The trap was laid. - The rest is history. - I needn't go on.
Hello Seible
Apologies for the vagueness. On reflection, my comment is geared to LTH's here. - It is correct to say that Q3 is just a reporting period linked to progress towards forecast annual production. A compass-check if you like to ascertain that we are on course.- The meeting of forecasted production is a very important metric in relation to how the 'Market' views a company and the trust they place in its management. - This is then usually reflected in the SP and the P/E weighting. - In recent years, Centamin's forecasting has been heavily-weighted towards H2, therefore placing the heavy-lifting on Q3/Q4 production, whilst at the same time allowing for relatively poor Q1/Q2 production. - It's all gonna come right in Q3/Q4. - So, operating in this way leaves a mountain to climb in order to meet H2 production targets. - The first test of whether these targets are achievable or not is Q3, hence my phrase 'Truth quarter'. - If Q3 fails to produce the increased production required to keep forecast on track, the game is more or less up. It leaves Mount Everest to climb in Q4. - The market realizing this, reacts accordingly. - For the last three years, Centamin has failed miserably to meet forecast. - On each occasion ,the truth of the deception was revealed in Q3 reporting. It became the time when all manner of things started to go wrong and used as reason for failed production. As a long term-holder here, I predicted these events would happen although I take no pleasure in saying so. - So, do you get it now ? :-) - In terms of this year's vastly reduced forecast, Q1/ Q2
are pretty much in line with forecast, so there is not so much of a mountain to climb in H2. - On this basis, you never know, we may be in for a pleasant surprise. - BTW - I've noticed quite a few, mainly new posters I think, questioning how/why the SP in Centamin can be as low as it is.. - I hope this long-winded reply of mine helps shed some light on this question. - It can be reduced to one word. - 'Trust' - or in Cenatmin's case - Lack of it. - Good luck
19/10 - Next reporting day, however, the reporting of Q3, the 'Truth quarter'. - Usually, they've been able to kick the can down the road to this point, but, the truth now has to be revealed. Either that or make something up like a mine incident or whatever, as a cover to hide the truth. - This is the big one guys. - Should be interesting. - Let's hope we come out of the other side with a smile on our faces. - Also, can't wait for Cowichan's W.Africa questions to be addressed.- There's another truth issue at stake here.
