It's the first time I've seen/heard Martin Horgan in the flesh so to speak. - A very upbeat presentation I thought. - Well worth seeing. - Also, thank you for your personal input and contribution. - Cheers.
It seems to me that come hell or high-water, sanctions are going to be imposed, the decision has already been made IMO. - US/UK are goading Russia into making a move to create the justification for deploying sanctions. - If Russia doesn't invade they'll find a different reason. - None of it has anything to do with Ukraine. - Same old imperial playbook strategy.
I remember that time well Mr Tibbs. - I believe he spoke at the 'Denver' conference and informed the world as to how Centamin were on target to reach objectives/guidance. - As you say - 3 weeks later he performed a U-turn with the unexpected announcement that shattered the SP. - An act of sabotage to what looked like a deliberate attempt to accommodate Endeavours' interest. - I've often wondered if Denver was where they got together and agreed a plan of action.
Hi spot - I believe the Sukari licence is owned 100% by Centamin. - So far as I know, the contractual arrangement with EMRA involving their 50% take of profits/free-cash-flow, does not create legal-impediment to Centamin's rights of disposal. - Not totally sure. - Because of the implications, no doubt EMRA would be included in negotiations as they were with the 'Endeavour' bid.
If there is to be a takeover, and with Centamin's history, Cowichan's suspicions are entirely understandable, it will be sooner rather than later in my view. - Presently, in it's distressed-state, Centamin is naked and vulnerable. like a wounded-animal. -To go in for the kill now would make sense in my view. - Always supposing of course they are being stalked. - I agree with Dasut, an organised 'Sting' would be pretty brazen stuff and as Cowichan has already flagged to the 'Mining-world', his thoughts on what he thinks is going on, it would take some explaining.
Apologies, I meant in the context of where it was trading running-in towards the end of the year. - Since the start of the new-year, there appears to be a stair-step up in the level of pricing which appears to be holding. - I was putting this down to the influence of Basel 111. - It would be good to find out for certain just what the situation really is here.
No doubt we'll find out Ken. - The other expert that was informing us on Basel 111 was Alasdair McCleod. - He covered the subject for many months and none of what he forecast has come to pass. - He also has not mentioned any change to the Jan. 22 date. - One thing that is noticeable, to me at any rate, since the start of the year, although it appears that manipulation is still taking place, it is doing so with the price of Gold/Silver trading at a much higher level and also maintaining that position.
Thanks Ken
I see the point you're making. - Well now, I wonder if there's a way of finding out for sure. - Andrew Maguire in his latest LFTV speaks as though it is in play and just requires time to take effect. - Andrew is pretty clued-up on such matters
Hi Ken
As I understand it, Basel 111 is not a singular issue but rather is made up of a multitude of new rules, terms and conditions.
They are being phased-in over a period of time.- The NSFR requirement affecting the calculation of assets held on account has been a part of this phasing-in. The first tranche of adopting countries became compliant from July 1st 2021. - UK was supposed to be a part of this adoption but was granted a six-month extension to become compliant from Jan. 1st 2022. - To the best of my knowledge and confirmed by your link, this is the current state-of-play. - That's all I know. - The confusion arises I think, out of the affect it's had on the POG and the continued manipulation, when we were all led to believe, by the experts, that this would cease. - They were forecasting that the effects of the NSFR would begin to show as early as Nov. 21 and by the end of December, all parties would have to have their positions squared ready for Jan. 1st 22. - Well, so much for experts, this hasn't happened. So, it's hardly surprising that we are all confused. - It would be useful if there was a source where we could ask for a definitive answer. - I wouldn't know where to start.
Hi Kenj
Open the link that you posted - scroll down to the bottom and you will see a blue link ' FSB Annual report to G20 (October 2021)' - download - Scroll to page 34 'Annex' - It looks complicated but it isn't. - Basel 111 - 6th column to right relates to NSFR. - Alphabetically descending showing countries and their status re NSFR. e.g. 'C' = compliant. - UK shows an ampersand (&) on yellow background. - Below, page 35, 'Legend' - Explains what the various symbols mean. - Ampersand (&) = compliant from Jan 1st 2022. - Check it out and good luck. - It's like doing a crossword. :-)
Hi Kenj
The Net Stable Funding Requirement (NSFR) , the part that affects the value of paper-gold contracts held, comes into effect from Jan 1st. 2022. - Gold contracts held on books that are unallocated gold must have 85% of their value covered by 100% liquidity assets. That is to say assets that can immediately be used for settlement, e.g. cash or proven allocated-gold contracts. - This is the significance of the new NSFR ruling and marks the beginning of the end of paper-gold as an asset-class. - This is what Andrew Maguire is referring to and it has started this month. - Once bedded-in it will change the way gold is priced and move the fulcrum away from Comex futures and more towards physical-deliverable-gold as the spot-price setter.
Agree with Mr Tibbs - The admission by the BOD and NED's that they were unaware of what was going on at Sukari, is of itself a shocking admission of 'Gross Negligence' on their part and I mean 'SHOCKING' - They receive 'Golden hellos' - lucrative salaries - freebies, bonuses and free-shares in between and then Golden-goodbye's, yet, they don't know what's going on. - Kinnell!
Barrick has Centamin surrounded:
It's a bit like the Russians amassing troops on the Ukrainian border. - Will they or won't they? - We should soon know if there is a cunning-deceitful-plan in play or not. - Wednesday's results will be interesting and may provide a clue. - Trust is a big issue here. - Frankly, after my own experience with Centamin, I don't trust anybody. - Many are already praising Horgan and I hope their faith is rewarded. - For my part, I'll bide my time and award medals after the battle.
Without wishing to take anyone's side on this issue. - Now that Barrick has become a part of the new-Egyptian landscape, the appointment of ex-Barrick executives/senior-management by Centamin is a helluva coincidence. - After the Endeavour/Pardey experience, it's natural to have suspicions. - Time will tell sooner rather than later here I feel.
