RE: RNS - Elective Recovery Fund Funding Mechanism16 Oct 2024 21:29
Couple of good posts Dibs. Like you I'm a disappointed LTH with FDBK parked at the back of the bottom drawer. Maybe time to shake off the dust and add.
However, having read and reread the RNS, despite what seems very positive news I do I have a few concerns:
1. CEO - if this targeted funding is as positive as he suggests why hasn't TO been out shouting from the rooftops? No interviews today and none scheduled with the likes of IMC. I'm sure he's exceptionally busy but this needs promotion. As we all know, TO is prone to waffle and this lengthy RNS while bursting with good news is also peppered with shoulds, coulds, maybes and mights! Sensible backside covering, yes, but does raise a ? or two with me
2. ERF widens the availability of funds for different projects, it is not solely for areas that are targeted by FDBK so inevitably given staff shortages in the NHS it will slow down decision making and award of contracts even with an excellent delivery partner in place
3. Competition - has Bleepa now been identified as the sole DEAG solution? I don't believe so in which case competition must impact timescales
4. NHS - each Region has its own jealously guarded set of processes and people to manage them. For example, the multiple, long term trails that FDBK have been running are largely thanks to Regions wanting to prove their worth by doing their own thing. It's one of the major reasons why the NHS is in such a mess - unnecessary duplication of processes and functions. I'm not certain that this will disappear overnight
However, switching on the positive, we've been waiting too long for news like this and if FDBK can deliver even a fraction of what the RNS is suggesting then it's certainly top-up time, big time.
