Don't get me wrong, I see this as hugely undervalued which is why I am in and plan to hold long term.
But that is very very speculative and overly optimistic in my opinion!
By my estimations, that would make them the largest company (by far) of this kind by market cap!
Inflation would have to massive for next 5 years to make that valuation plausible!

Yup JG68. Blooming markets and their volatility. All the day traders jumping in and out completely distorts things.

Time will tell. If I'd taken that call @172, I'd be buying back a few at the dip here. But I always planned to hold this for a while and not buy and sell, not my style. Always a gamble but if you (as you say) get timings right, I'm sure it would be very profitable!

You may regret that come Friday Paddy. Looking at the size of the short positions and the volumes traded in last few days, I agree with sharefall in that they can't be fully out of their shorts yet. That would imply every trade was pretty much a shorter unwinding. I suspect this will not have the huge rises it would have had due to the delay, but I think will still be a good bit higher by Friday at which point we'll see another big leg up. After that it will stall again, as some take profits and things settle. But assuming no drama in the accounts, things will continue to rise for a while and the shorters won't see these prices again.
And if they can win a few jobs back, ADNOC or some other positive news will start to see this slowly climb towards the multiples some predict as the big boys start to put chunks of this back in their portfolios.

Is there a time limit on declaring shorts? As in, within what timeframe after they reduce or increase their short position, must they declare that they have? Was trying to find the info across various sites, but struggling. Most pages just speak about the percentages.

Ha! Well my fairly chunky buy order was put in place on Friday evening. So you could say technically no, but in all reality yes. I have no plan to cancel it, so by the time my first meeting is done tomorrow, the shares will be in my account.
I just laugh at those thinking we'll have it back at all time highs by Christmas as in reality, it may never get back up there and suspect quite a while longer to get the the multiples some are suggesting in the short term on this board.

Companies like Petrofac will be needed yes, oilhead, you rude, blinkered nugget.
Will they win the work or is asking about recent convictions not usually on page one of the bid? Have you actually see one of the O&M or EPC tenders, guess that dep[ends how major or minor you are in whichever one you work at!
Will they get the lump sums wrong again and cost themselves more money?? How much debt they already in? Those were my points and why I mention the half yearly's.
I've bought in as I see an upside long term, stop being a tube and allow people to discuss both sides of the coin!
There's still short term risk IMO.
I'll make sure I bow to the big boy working t a major next time though! ;)

Half year results still going to be important here. Worth noting the impact of COVID on this lot has been big. They took a loan from government during this period also. Oil and gas downturn also a major issue going forward, especially in North Sea. They are still very reliant on that sector, despite some attempts to position away from it. And a lot of the big contracts they'd be suitable for here are a good few years off yet, 2027-2030 for a lot of the energy transition stuff to even really get going.
Also, every oil company asks about conviction over last X years. So they will still be declaring this issue for a good few years and it may still give them headaches.
Still a lot of work to do to turn this back around.

Been keeping my eye on this for ages now.
The day we get what I was waiting for, my eye is off the ball due to other work commitments and only notice the news once the market had clsoed!
