I always sell the day before the ex-dividend date because you can bet it will drop by more than the dividend. Last year it was in the region of 40p.

According to Bloomberg, Nigeria's economy grew faster than anticipated in the fourth quarter of 2023 so, with regard to Airtel, we can only hope that the bad news has now been priced in. No shortage of internal issues in Nigeria though.

Another year of mediocrity.

Unlike most American banks, the UK banks have never recovered from their post financial crisis levels. The economy has not continued on its pre-crisis growth path either. No quick fix here.

A 4.85% daily increase on a day when the FTSE is down. The third largest percentage riser in the FTSE All Share index.

This is one of the very few shares defying gravity today. Let us hope this bodes well.

Minnie, maybe this is why UK insurance companies and pension funds have only 4% of their money invested here. Maybe we should do the same? No wonder the LSE is failing.
