RE: Latest on mobile LAMP testing in a van.18 Jul 2020 12:03
I'm very optimistic when looking at this situation, but this does depend upon a strengthening of links between Novacyt and Optigene.
If no such links exist, or have not been developed by GM into a commercial partnership of some form, then we could well have an issue. However, I cannot imagine that the relationship hasn't been developed given NCYT's involvement in early testing. Couple that with the clear fact that Optigene simply do not have the resources to ramp up production or distribution. Step in NCYT. Personally, I hope NCYT have simply bought them out and given the owners a wedge of shares in NCYT. Clean, simple, everyone is a winner. At the very least, I hope NCYT has signed a watertight manufacturing and distribution agreement with them. The two products, together with NCYT's reputation, would make a very strong market offering.
I also find it inconceivable that NCYT employees (including the CEO!) would support a competitor's product development via social media. That's more like the action of a supportive, yet still back stage, partner to me.
As for AVCT's 'spit and tell' test, well let's see if they actually can produce it first, not a great track record thus far. For the sake of us all (investor's hat to one side), I hope they have done it in order to fight this bloody virus. However, the testing market is ENORMOUS and the world will need every accurate test, from every trusted supplier, in order to meet the demand, so no great panic on NCYT's part. I also doubt that NCYT have been naïve enough not to have been developing their own, simpler, user friendly solution. Their track record is somewhat better.
Hoping we'll find out more early next week, but I'm quite excited by developments yesterday. Could be (just part of) the 'big play that I keep boring people with. Definitely something BIG happening here.
A strong HOLD for me.
