European markets are set for a higher open on Tuesday as global sentiment seemed to have improved, following US President Donald Trump's early morning announcement that a ceasefire between Israel and Iran is "now in effect." The statement, posted on Truth Social at 7:00 am CET (1:00 am ET), lifted supported gains across Asia-Pacific markets. Investors are now watching to see whether the truce holds amid ongoing geopolitical tensions.
At 8:00 am CET, the DAX futures soared 1.32% or 306 points, the British FTSE 100 jumped 0.56%, and the Euro Stoxx 50 surged 1.89%. Simultaneously, the CAC 40 climbed 1.89%.
The euro traded 0.30% higher against the greenback at 7:58 am CET, to go for $1.16116 while the pound gained 0.32%, selling at $1.35690, simultaneously.
