Europe higher premarket with economy in focus2 Jul 2025 07:03
Major stock indexes in Europe traded with gains during premarket hours on Wednesday as investors focused on economic forecasts by central bankers gathered in Sintra, Portugal, for the European Central Bank (ECB) Forum on Central Banking. ECB President Christine Lagarde welcomed the latest inflation reading for the Eurozone, stressing that the 2% inflation target had been reached, but warned that the mission was not yet accomplished. Meanwhile, Bank of England Governor Andrew Bailey said that interest rates will remain on a downward path.
The DAX added 0.30%, while the FTSE 100 advanced by 0.31% at 8:00 am CET. Simultaneously, the CAC 40 improved by 0.63%, and the Euro Stoxx 50 rose by 0.53%.
The euro traded 0.16% below the dollar, going for $1.17876 at 7:58 am CET. At the same time, the pound was flat compared to the greenback to sell for $1.37369.
