It's a relative term. Still plenty of opportunity to find a vaccine, and still plenty of unknown capacity to mutate and become nastier. I doubt LD and co will be shutting up shop just yet.

I also have some recollection of Scancell going to some gathering to do with bio funding and CH (I think) being quoted as saying that Scancell would be an 'active participant.' Can't see it from a quick peer at the RNSs, can anyone else help jog my memory?

Earlier on today, Pascal Soriot is quoted as saying '100m doses ordered by U.K. govt starting Sept if it proves safe and effective.' Passing any safety and tolerability is taken as a formality it seems. If Scancell were to say the same (with a vaccine based on the proven qualities of SCIB1) we would be guaranteed to have an invasion of pessimistic caveats decrying 'mad rampers' for talking of orders before the safety and tolerability hurdle was passed. Look at the swimmer chart for SCIB1 and the measured proficiency of LD, and think just how well Scancell may be positioned for this coronavirus vaccine using a platform that has worked despite the best snivelling derision of the doomies. Scancell are working from an informed viewpoint imo - here's to the future folks!

I had the briefing on in the background this afternoon in order not to be conspicuously subject to the nasal whining of Robert Peston, but definitely heard Boris or one of his science people talk of a uk based global meeting of minds in early june and some mention of the mix of science and industry 'in our universities'. Plural. Not just Oxford! Anyone able to check on iplayer or heard it better than me?
