Working at Tesco a petrol station for the passed 20 years does count as working in oil and gas for decades....

I already have chronic respiratory failure as my diaphragm no longer works hence the ventilator support that is just a side effect of my overall condition.

I have just had a call from my daughter who works in a nursery. Scotland and Wales are closing schools as of friday until the end of summer. I guess by then England will have followed too. From the film Highlander "This is the quickening" She will be out of work 2 weeks later like thousands of others. At the moment she can't see the blue sky even though is sunny as hell today.

The vast majority will have little symptoms but even some very healthy will die and even some very sick will live. But even one death is devastating.

Stay safe

On the schools front.

They are keeping these open as long as they can to allow the NHS and other vital service to gear up. once these close a large number of the UKs workforce that are still working will be at home to look after the children.

I was in the forces in the 80s during the cold war so have lots of biological training so that mindset is still ingrained in me.

Think on this, we did a full 14 day isolation trial all be it in a forced air NBC shelter. By the 2nd week most were sick for the everyday common cold or flu that we all brought in with us to the extend the exercise was stopped.

Once the current shopping madness settles and a routine is found (one none of us could imagine) life as we know it now will be some time of returning.

As you start on your 12 weeks isolation ration from day 1. I have frozen 90% of the fresh food and veg we had.

Disinfect everything you can like me once you get to day 7 you know you and everything in your house is clear. Then just a case of disinfecting or leaving things safely alone for 3 days as this is the time frame they are saying the virus can survive up to.

Even I am lucky I already have a ventilator which I use 12 - 14 hours every single day.

My local Hospital 9Wells in Dundee has been on full war footing for days now. My Specialist Pulmonary Team has been absorbed into high dependency COVID 19 team 95% of the people they were dealing with will no longer be seen in hospital unless they have the virus.

That is the stark reality of where we are right now and we are still at the bottom of the curve .

Here is my future
I have a Neurological condition and have been on immunosuppressants for sometime so have little or no immune system to fight this virus. I will not survive getting it. I'm 53. My future is full lock down for 18 months at a guess or until a vaccine is found and mass produced. I am not alone in this high risk group. so not 7 or 14 days isolation or 12 weeks as the over 70s are just about to start on.
Every single item that comes into the house has to be disinfected or left for 3 days.

If my wife and I don't develop the virus in the 1st 7 days of isolation everything in the house should be clear.
