StockCheque, until last week Committee meetings were organised. You can see it on the daily Order papers, which details which Committee(s) were sitting down during that specific day.

I think that from this week there has been a shift, as the Business Order paper for this week specifies everything that needs to be reviewed by each committee (and in the past that was not the case). So, I think there is a push to get Committee's to sit down daily/very frequently to go through all outstanding issues.

I read somewhere that there was a proposal do have parliament sessions on Mondays.

My rationale based on all of the above is that they are trying to take as much as possible through parliament before Xmas, as this will not only be recess time, but also the end of the first year of this parliament. And they need to show that some work has been done

StockCheque, bear in mind that organizing a committee meeting in a European Parliament can often be completed within a couple of days. In a less organized parliament.... it may take slightly longer!! For me a timeframe 14 days from the submission to the Parliament is not yet cause for concern. I agree with Sheriff89, this is Africa my friend!

In my view, this is likely to be ratified within 3–4 weeks, which is the time needed for the Parliamentary Committee to convene, review, and make recommendations. Key points to note:

1. In 2023, the NDC criticized the NPP for what it called a bad deal.

2. In 2025, the NDC renegotiated the deal and, due to market conditions, had to make additional concessions beyond the original agreement made by the NPP.

3. The NDC currently holds two-thirds of the seats in Parliament, while the NPP holds one-third.

4. The Lands and Natural resources select committee comprises 13 NDC MPs and 6 NPP MPs.

5. Both parties have contributed significantly to the final agreement, which represents the best possible outcome for both sides.

6. Nevertheless, the NDC will ultimately drive the committee’s recommendations and the parliamentary ratification vote.

All indicators are very positive so far. However, I anticipate some public reaction once the renegotiated deal terms are released. It’s likely that certain critics and civil society groups will voice concerns through various media channels, arguing that “this isn’t the best deal for Ghana” and urging Parliament not to ratify it “for the sake of the people.” And some of these people are real clowns that haven't got an idea what they are talking about...

Also, as far as I'm aware, Piedmont/ALL had stopped any applications to DFC because that way the spodumene could not be sold to Chinese entities?
