Did it deliver?5 Apr 2021 00:08
I’ve just caught up on today’s racing after watching it all yesterday. So it’s different to what people have been used to previously but overall I enjoyed it. Now in my opinion it was successful in establishing Extreme E’s green credentials in regards of what they stand for and how they are going about doing things. I do think that AFC’s involvement will become more noticeable to the public audience in the coming months as the XPrixs generate more interest in the sport. From there people will start to ask more about the ‘background’ systems and want to gain more knowledge as to how the off grid charging works.
Now this visibility to the public isn’t the part that sells systems. However what Extreme E does for AFC is that it helps validate the principles and practicalities that potential customers and partners may have had questions about. They have shown that a containerised system can be shipped from the UK to a remote location. Said system has then been set up and operational without any apparent issues in a less than hospitable environment.
Now we have four more locations to come, so there is still plenty more to be proved. However I do think that this has been an extremely good start to what is an international road show for AFC. We picked up interest and subsequent business as a result of the previous roadshow run. This time AFC have a more exhaustive schedule to follow and, if it goes well, should have proved to the market exactly the product can do in a variety of environments.
I’m not expecting the SP to immediately rocket on Tuesday morning based on this weekend’s performance, however I do feel that we will see a period of steady growth begin. The biggest gain is going to come as the questions that have been asked are shown to be answered and so lead to subsequent business deals.
IMO this weekend has been far more successful than many of us realise
