Cobus Loots, CEO of Pan African Resources, on delivering sector-leading returns for shareholders. Watch the video here.
‘ Mace and AFC Energy will, simultaneously, work with plant hire firms and engage with policymakers to help promote a shift from diesel to hydrogen across the wider sector.’
Now is this something that would be done via the Hydrogen Council that AFC are on?
Hopefully as well this is where our Director of Communications will get involved as well. As I have said before getting people to shift to green alternatives needs to be done by persuasion and showing the benefits of switching. That is not a quick win and takes time but is possible.
I wouldn't call this just a PR exercise, R&D etc just on the basis that a lot of sites set up their own temporary electricity supplies. There have been enough studies and reports in recent years indicating that construction sites are responsible for a large amount of emissions that affect air quality and that is just in this country alone. If a part of that can be reduced then everyone will be happy from constructors, councils, environment groups etc.
In addition Mace have large overseas interests and projects in countries where it is not so easy to throw in a supply to feed the site and so diesel gensets are more common and standard practice.
I'm sure Mace aren't going into this because they feel the PR will be good, if they're a good business then there are solid financial drivers to this as well.
If you can get one of the big companies onboard then the chance to get the rest of the industry interested will increase dramatically. I like this move firstly because of Mace’s presence in the UK and the chance to get a foothold in your own country’s market, which is no bad thing. Secondly is then the chance to spread overseas with the presence that Mace have there in every continent of the world. If it allows them to demonstrate their green credentials to other governments then AFC may then be the name on lips. Word of mouth recommendations can go a long way.
And if this is in addition to the other planned deals we expect this year then is a huge bonus as well.
DerSack, one thing you won’t lose is credibility on this board for your opinion. We need a balance of views as said but DW is trying the patience of many. Personally I won’t block him but I do tend to skim over the content of his posts recently as I can’t always be doing with his perspective on things. That works for me and maybe I’ll potentially miss out of some opinions and ideas that make sense but that’s a chance I’ll take.
Good DerSack as Extreme E is on Eurosport- hopefully on 1 then :-)
DerSack, do you have access to Eurosport at all or that only available via your satellite providers?
Nice article, thanks for that
There was a post on Instagram by Izzy highlighting the AFC system being loaded and a few words about what it does.
Here’s the link ( if it works! )

AFC Energy (AIM: AFC), a leading provider of hydrogen power generation technologies, announces that it will be publishing its full year results for the financial year ended 31 October 2020 on 1 March 2021.
Maybe sticking up on pasties and clotted cream as well :-)
That’s the thing, I think Extreme E will show the public what is achievable with EVs. In the background the varying locations will highlight the AFC technology to those in the know and what it is capable of, which ultimately will be of benefit to the public. As has been said before it’s a matter of showing what green tech can do in order to make people move towards it rather than forcing it onto people.
If you get the chance, once lockdown has finished, check out the tribute band Rumours of Fleetwood Mac if they play near you. Brilliant tribute group and as good as the real thing :-)
There isn’t a song by FM called part 2 but there is a version called Dreams (Take 2) is that it?
Agreed DerSack, it’s back to the question of when do you sell shares. We all do this in order to better our families lives and that means selling at some point. If we sit on them not wanting to sell because they may go up some more then what’s the point? As much as I’d love to become a millionaire through my portfolio then there’s no point if we don’t get some benefits from it :-)
GLA
ESTA, I saw it this morning but didn’t take a screenshot. I can remember someone else mentioning it so I looked on the intraday share chart. That showed a red line down and a figure of 1.91 marked on it. I now see that the intraday chart now starts bang on 8 am with a line across and not down now! All I can say it that it was for 478k which is around the 25 million shares that you’ve mentioned. The trade time was showing at 7:56, caught my idea because a trade was showing before 8 am
See there was a 478k sell at 1.91 7:56 this morning/ seems a bizarre trade to make imo
MMS got some orders to fill and quickly dropped to pick up some shares to help fulfill them maybe?
Agreed Cheekboy2 about the diesel gen sets, that potentially is a huge market and one that could expand rapidly once you get a foot in the door. That’s a business all of its own without the other potential markets. Here’s hoping the initial trial with Acconia goes well as the orders from there could be eye watering in my view
Thanks for the answers guys, certainly would be better if the waste was more local rather than brought in from outside. If that can happen then there is more chance of the locals being on board with having the plant in their area. One big aspect of green technologies is getting people on board and seeing what it can do for them rather than for the greater good, so tie ups with the local councils/authorities is a big part of the site development and commissioning
