Good morning Gerry. I saw you back on the Tesco bb on the morning the proposed merger with booker was announced speculating I think that the Tesco price might go up that morning. You tell me you don't go in for this tacky trading malarkey but I hope you took advantage that morning of your intuition. Fallen back a good tad -in your parlance - as the move might well raise a few eyebrows and not go through if thought anti competitive. Think I saw midway in the Budgens on Prestwick's High Street buying some special Oxos for his shepherd's pie and chilli con carne. Already given Opium a few recipes for what to do with his or her mince. Got a few items further up the road in Sainsburys and Aldis. Debs just issued the first cardholder discount of the year and these are definitely getting fewer and far between so make of that what you will.

Might add to the last post that I have absolutely no time for time wasters posting on these bbs who haven't the courage of their convictions to indicate if they have taken any position in a stock. Sure we all like to muse on companies and their fortunes but all a bit pointless unless you have some skin in the game as far as I'm concerned.

I remember just over a year ago holding on to some shares in kaz bought at 90p or thereabouts and various posters indicating that it was a complete basket case but those posters are no where to be seen now. Happens all the time. Somebody like Woodford sells Tesco early because he realises that with Lidl et al around, things will never be quite the same but he is not only holding here but adding because he is a shrewd operator who's been around for years and knows what he is doing and not likely to disappear from a bb and change his name ATB.

Downbutnotout your Thur. 10.43 indicates nothing to me other than that the price can be volatile at the current time and think it has been both above and below your last buying in price. I don't see this multi bagging like pmo did when all you could foresee was a downward spiral but I do see this recovery somewhat from its current price level so like Woodford I am buying. Might not get the bottom but people seldom do.

Other than that I retain a healthy scepticism about all politicians and their motives.

Gerry it seems to me that with the grip hedge funds have on shorting debs and pnn at the moment, day trading isn't a bad option provided you can guess the lows and the highs within the range. Your friend webby on pnn is having difficulty reading the movements there hence his or her simultaneous longs and shorts - trouble with that is you can end up getting smacked both ways so please do not be too down on me for taking a little profit from a short term long trade at pnn. I wouldn't be nosey enough to ask you if you made money on Tesco but Buffet's holding shares for life theory didn't bear much fruit for him with that one. Question to both you and Midway is - is deb's at 53p a buy? I suspect it is and deb's recent results don't justify the level of short interest there is but somebody is loaning out their shares and not supporting this company by doing so. If the institutional investors are prepared to support the company then maybe that would give a bit more confidence to small investors to hold longer term instead of trading. I have other fish to fry and loads of other pleasant and not so pleasant things to deal with at the moment but will definitely look in before the next update.

Morning or is it afternoon Gerry. I only looked in to see if anybody could shed any light on the Goldman Sachs rns yesterday. Mebbes Emily has been delaying the on line retailers' couriers. Oh I'm not keen on politicians - alive or dead - but I know what you mean as the dockers lowered their cranes as Churchill's cortege passed but Benn renounced a peerage and left nothing to charity by all accounts. No wonder his son has the freedom to wander in and out of shadow cabinet jobs. Snap, crackle and pop. You sold your Tesco, I sold my pnn yesterday. Must rank alongside debs as one of the most boring shares on the planet. I'll get you into Aims yet.

Unfortunately, the fact is that the trading update was not as good as it could have been hence everything has gone a bit sluggish again with the share price here. Never wrong to take your profits The1000. Buy the rumour, sell the facts - especially with an Aims stock.

Not sure if there is only one company involved. The boxes were a nice looking festive red or floral pattern for the flowers.
