Committee which I think includes the new Chairman who seems to have a pretty good pedigree Further to the announcement by Mr Alexander Machkevitch on 19 April 2013, the Board of ENRC announces that it has formed an independent committee of the Board to evaluate any proposal should it be forthcoming, against the alternatives available to the Company. The Committee is chaired by Dr Mohsen Khalil and consists of Sir Paul Judge, Mr Roderick Thomson, Professor Dieter Ameling, Mr Gerhard Ammann, Mr Terence Wilkinson and Mr Richard Burrows. The Committee will focus on securing the best outcome for the Company's shareholders. The Board confirms that it has not received any proposal which could result in an offer or possible offer for the Group and at this point there is no certainty that any offer will be forthcoming. The Board advises that shareholders should take no action.

If it does turn out that the oligarchs are doing a bit of kite flying then they can't come back for is it 6 months which could clear the way for somebody else to step in at that point who hasn't already shown their cards. And then if nothing happens that 7% free float shortfall has to get addressed - all the while the company still has to give updates on its performance.

I wonder if Kaz is in a position these days to takeover enrc. There has been talk in the past of the two companies merging and one taking over the other and vice versa. I really don't think anything can be ruled out or in at this early stage. It's even possible that the oligarchs are simply trying to see if there is any other party interested out there and would sell if the price was right. The Glencore CEO commented publicly on the situation at kaz/enrc on Thursday in Moscow and I think it is that which has been reported on the bbs along with the interest showed by them here in 2011. I agree though all fascinating stuff.

The current shortfall in the free float situation affects 5 companies I know of including fres. That particular issue does not reflect badly on any of the companies concerned. They were breaking no rules at the time of their creation. New rules have been introduced which any newly floated companies are having to comply with and existing companies have been given until January 2014 to comply with. But what of kaz's role here ? Will it not have to act in the best interests of its shareholders.

Enrc are advising shareholders to do nothing and, in the news stories which appear on this website, JN Financial trader, Rick Jones, says that that investors should hold onto ENRC and only think of selling out for a profit if it goes up to the 350-400 pence level. Anybody including those who write articles might have their own ulterior motives for suggesting what a buyout or takeover price might be because they are looking to get the best price either way for themselves. Each individual, of course, has to make up their own mind. Certain Press reports today are suggesting that the offer price will have to be at a decent enough level for the bidders - assuming the only bidders will be the oligarchs - and probably kazakymys not to be viewed askance to say the least in the City of London.
