Hats I had a look at thorntons on line , and the smaller sized Bramble Bunny, Lenny the Lamb and Charlie the Chick are there either alone or in double packs so I am going to head to a bigger branch like Ayr to see what's on offer. The focus was on Mother's Day gifts when I last visited a small branch and, though eggs were out on the shelves, it is possible the other lines were still to be displayed. Teutonic - I have no extra access to info about shorting positions that you don't already have access to yourself. I know this because I tried to prise unsuccessfully from you some information last year. I got it though from my old buddy mgb7. The position here is always pretty negligible overall though even if you take the free float into consideration and it appeared to have fallen sharply when I last looked. If Yanar knows anything different then maybe he or she could specify whatever point they were making a couple of nights ago. Happy Easter.

I see that you are not one of the most prolific posters which accounts for my not having spotted you on tht bb before. Convinced you have your priorites right - best to spend time researching rather than posting. I bought in to tht nearly three yeas ago at around the same time as others like monaco and probably for the same reason - becasue we had lost Cadbury to our cousins across the pond which I thought would benefit tht. The bb was very quiet back then and I do wish I had spotted some notes of caution on here before I charged in at £1.23 or something like that. For nearly two years, nobody contributed much to the bb other than Bonz, Sid and I and a poster who used to appear for a wind up before the ex divi date - when the company was still paying divis. It was bizarre as I would read posters on other bbs talk about their tht and another retail I held but not on the relevant bb lol. It was the pfd bb we met on but I just wanted to see if your memory was as good as mine. I also came across NigelD on the kaz bb recently. He did well out of both pfd and tht. Throughout 2012 and in 2013, I have bumped into traders rather than investors on various bbs and asked if they were still holding their tht from January 2012 and the answer was usually along the lines of they didn't believe in holding anything for very long lol far less for months on end to qualify for the October discount vouchers here. Lost my two nearest tht branches last year but was in the Hamilton store recently - now an outlet. Can recommend the fruit jellies as a refreshing change to chocolate. Was quite disappointed too to learn in the Glasgow Central Station branch that some of the Easter lines I had been buying for a few years now were according to the catalogue held in that store not going to be on offer this year - eg Marc de Champagne mini egg, the small white lamb and milk chic and small bunny figure. Maybe that is the way towards a more profitable future though. I do think tht white choc eggs are to die for but, when it comes to the milk choc ones, again this year the likes of Tesco were offering buy 2 get two free on other eggs and the supermarkets are where it's at for tht these days. I learned a long time ago not to put all my Easter eggs in one basket. You could say I've been very wary here since the slow followed by the sudden slump to 10p in January 2012 - before your time - followed by the various dramatic peaks and troughs since. GL

Hello Hats, I am pretty sure you and I had a discussion about tht on another bb about a year ago just now but I have never seen you post on here before today. Obvious question is do you hold the shares and did you buy them recently as you can obviously see where Teutonic is coming from here. ATB

When various new faces suddenly appear on a bb and disappear just as suddenly, I do think pump and dump. And it has happened with tht and other shares I keep an eye on so many times and here notably since January 2012. However, there have been days on here recently when there have been no posts and the share price has silently crept up - not before time if you ask me as I first bought tht shares nearly three years ago at well over a £1 (something like £1.23) as did some of the other posters who post on here very occasionally. Main issue for me about tht is that the spread is invariably wide. You may be right Teutonic and all the new posters on here will vanish without saying when they sold just as many have appeared without saying when they bought. That's nothing new here as you well know. Only thing that intrigues me is that rather big institutional investor buy recently which Sid posted the details of. A 10% plus stake was it and right out of the blue to overtake Hendersons as the biggest holder. There's been a big drop in the shares out on loan too recently.

The company issued a RNS on 28th February about the writedowns so the Independent article will not come as any great surprise. The long standing speculation about a rights issue to comply with free float regulations and the takeover talk are also inevitably doing the rounds this weekend prior to the results.
