Out of interest for those tracking the Supersonic Travel segment ie) Boom Supersonic / Virgin Galactic and Reaction Engines of relevance to Rolls Royce.

A very good thing in terms of the future of the UK space sector, alongside the opportunities that will emerge for RR in both nuclear propulsion and nuclear in orbit operations.
"We believe there is a real niche UK capability in this area and this initiative can build on the strong UK nuclear network and supply chain".
Cost wise - as much as is deemed necessary inc. additional govt funding.

“We’re not looking for the government to stick its balance sheet behind this after the initial investment. What we’ve got is a very efficient capital deployment programme that minimises the role of government in getting it to market.”

Missed this from yesterday...no doubt the extra 1MW generation from adding magnets on the engine spools of the Tempest may assist in the pursuit of a laser based weaponry system tipped for Tempest....

Only because they sell carbon credits, everyone knows that.

Those "new ways" of generating revenue are established sectors of the company which now will have full focus due to the shock and repositioning of the company due to CV19 alongside a revised commerical offer.
Lots of job cuts are a necessity but from a business pov it streamlines the company for the future and the intention is already to boost jobs in other segments such as Nuclear. An area which will see significant growth in revenues as major nations pivot to focusing on the green agenda. Small modular reactors fits the bill for that. I'm waiting to see if they take a stake or direction in fusion (tokamak) business offerings to diversify even more.
It's not plain sailing but they are weathering the storm most can see that and those that want to play long for here are taking positions.
I am - as you wont get a better chance than at this point in time or last month tbh...
Because it is. Unlike many loss making big firms such as spotify / tesla etc RR have a multi faceted company with many growth sectors to continue to scale within. Pent up demand for travel will quickly get the revs coming back in from the commercial sector and they've already positioned themselves at the front of the supersonic sector with key players. Then there is nuclear, hydrogen, AI, defence, EVTOL, electrification segments. The list goes on for a leaner more streamlined RR to grow from here on in. Any one who ddnt take a position at RI or under £1 might aswell stay on these boards looking to talk themselves into an entry point. LT Rolls is solid from here at arguably its most difficult period. Any weakness keep adding. Business has continued to pour IN not OUT if you followed the company closely. It's not rocket science...well even that's easier considering the positions RR have with key air breathing engine manufacturers....

Just a reminder for anyone who missed this back in 2018...
Pfizer and partner BioNTech announced they will submit a request on Friday to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for emergency use authorization of their COVID-19 vaccine candidate.

Cheers. Enjoy your weekend and look out for more information dropping from RE over next few weeks if you are interested...

Jets dont work in space...yet. As I type this I already know this guy will come back with smart "O level gained" arse comment. As RR, are a significant investor in RE, the ongoing work with Tempest is already being reviewed with SABRE along with the announcement of a new SSTO plane which is being worked on called Hyperstar. The smart arse comment may be "well how long will it take for this, been loss making for years bla bla bla" i'll cancel that out with Spotify on in the background - you know one of the many tech companies that have been loss making for years over a 10bn MCAP but hey that's what is going on from an r+d perspective. Supersonic and Hypersonic Engines with RE / Boom / Virgin Galactic more pipedreams - but being worked on. Note most commentators suggesting that supersonic travel will define the coming decades. Wouldnt want to miss out on that sector so why not partner with the key companies - oh wait RR have already.
You must all be well aware that R2D2 labs is already plugged into the UKs AI programme etc. No doubt they will benefit from being world leaders in Ethical AI platforms. Data is the new oil they say... New engines - well we already know the EJ200 recent orders, new MTU engines haven't stopped orders over COVID. Seems as though opportunity as mentioned in the 10 point plan for small reactors - wait and see I suppose. You must all be well aware that RR is in the mix for the final round of vertical lift helicopters - interesting one to keep an eye out for...
All in all, happy to be sat here well into profit after the RI issue....
