By the way addicknt, you mentioned a diverse register was a weakness, not a strength to defending a takeover.
Must admit, I would like you to expand on that point, as I cannot see it.

Good grief addicknt, I agree totally, as Newcrest have a major part to play. I also understand and agree, that they don't have to talk to them, as they can bid higher than they would normally. But why would any company do that. Yes any conversations in theory are subject to them being confidential, but we both understand, that the more people involved, and the more parties involved, don't make that so. It's just human nature.
So while I agree with your statement, I don't believe that anyone would bid for Solgold with such a diverse book, without sounding out the other parties, as that would almost certainly result in a failed bid.

If anyone want's this, it isn't going cheap.
Your quite right that no one is going to pay, for what is in a PEA or PFS.
They are not going to stake a fortune on what is inferred resources on this big a find.
My point is I believe we will get to 2 pounds a share in value, with the PFS.
So no bid coming.
However let's say that Porvenir and other sites get to PEA and PFS, and dilution is not too much, then we are in the realms of 10 pounds plus a share maybe.
Yes it sounds laughable, I hear you say. But remember everyone laughed at me, when I said this will not sell for under 1 pound a share. nearly two years ago now.
It's about tracking value, not what you think someone will pay. We are not and will not become a distressed seller.
In a year or so, we could have the majority of this chatroom saying 2 pounds a share is so lowball.
They will conveniently forget what they have said.

Addicknt that's fine, we can agree to disagree, but remember there are lots of companies, who would like a stake in Solgold.
I think we can agree on that, and so why wouldn't Solgold take advantage of that, and make the register even more diverse.
By all means let's have a bidding war. ( I don't believe it will happen ).
As for negotiations, while I agree with your statement, may I point out, if BHP wanted to launch a take out bid, that they would need to communicate with a lot of holders to enable a takeout bid to be accepted.
If you were talking to one party, you could keep this a secret maybe. Maybe even two parties, but with such a diverse book, this would be a market rumour in no time at all. So I don't think any bid is being talked about.

For a brief correction, I never said it would be easy.
I have answered the question many times on why would BHP would sit back and watch their stake get diluted.
The answer is they have no choice.
Yes they could bid for Solgold, but they don't want to pay the price, that NM wants. ( whatever price that is ) Otherwise a deal would have been done by now.
By all means, bring on a hostile bid, ( we both know what that means ) this may happen, but day by day, this is becoming less likely as we add more value, and proceed towards production. I believe BHP may be involved at some level, but they will not own Solgold. I suppose I could put imo, but what's the point, as everything here is opinion.

Morning Iceberg I am in agreement, that things are hotting up, and I think the direction of travel will be clearer in the new year. As for the AGM, I think it will be calmer than most people think. Maybe Solgold expands on the detail a bit more. I am surprised that we get the AGM before the PFS, but dare say that was just circumstances. Anyway this is not boring. All the best.

Addicknt I agree we cannot use history when looking at Solgold, as we are making history. I think this is so unlike any company I usually invest in, as it's breaking all the rules. The good thing is we both have to be wrong to get an adverse outcome, which is possible, but again I would argue, an unlikely outcome. All the best.

Morning addicknt, this is just another indication, when I first mentioned, we could raise the finance and go it alone, I did so by understanding various methods, in which this may be achieved. I was shouted down. With statements like I didn't know what I was talking about, and that it was crazy, and no one would give us the money. Not forgetting I know nothing about cooperate finance. I considered those arguments silly at the time and still do. The point is I was shot down, but no-one said why I was wrong. They just said I was wrong. That is a good indicator of the opposing argument. Today more people are thinking, we may be able to finance this. It's not the majority opinion, but it is gaining traction. Why? It's because we are actively pursuing this.

Addicknt, we all have confirmation bias, the trick when it comes to investing, is recognising it, and looking at the evidence. Some people recently were getting tick ups for being racist, it's a nonsense. The people aren't ticking up an argument, they are doing so, because it disagrees with me. I actually tick up a lot of your posts, even when I disagree with you, as I think the argument is well made. I believe on the balance of probability that you are wrong, just as you believe I am.

I agree iceberg, lots to come, I wouldn't put a time frame on it though.

Morning smickster and addicknt, I have not changed my story, I have been consistent. I don't think everyone else is wrong. It's just I have been correct up till now. We will not hand BHP or NCM any more equity, and we will continue bringing other players onto the book. This forms part of our defence. Agreed anyone can bid at anytime. But they haven't. The numbers I give for the PFS are based on what we have in the ground, and the rising gold price. I am using 1500 dollars an ounce. The Alpala funding, means we have no requirement for a JV. Why would we raise the capital required, and then say let's JV. That would be crazy. We don't have long to wait, we will see. Also the Alpala story doesn't end with the PFS, we are still drilling. Hello Smickster, it's my opinion, like everything on here is opinion.
But let's run with my opinion for the moment.
Why has no one bid for Solgold so far.
Why if we acquired funding for the construction of Alpala, would someone bid at that stage.
If we get a bid it will not be low ball. Hence why we don't have a bid.
Anyone interested in Solgold needs to build a holding approaching 30 percent to launch a bid. If that starts to happen, then I will be the first to admit, that on the balance of evidence, that production is less likely.

Hi SharketMare, apart from the bit, that you believe it's my long term view, that we go to production, I am in agreement with what you have posted.
I have always recognized that we could get a bid, it just will not be under 1 pound. I was laughed at when I said this some time ago. I think that view is in the majority today. I have never said production was certain, I have always said, that it is the most likely outcome looking at the evidence.
NM will bring many people to the table in the years ahead, he just will not give them as large holdings as BHP or NCM, without a tie in, like BHP's two year tie in.
If NM could have given NCM and BHP less of a stake in the past, he would have done, but we needed the money.
Today we have people lining up offering us money for a stake.
The game changer will be, when we acquire funding for Alpala. It will mean no bids, game over.

Miagi you totally misunderstand the diverse register argument.
It is not what it looks like today, it's how it can be altered, should we get a bid rumour.
Your point 1, doesn't address this, it is reversed, as it is the exclusion of the main shareholders that is important.
Your point 2, also misses the target. Why would NM want to give anyone 10% or more, it just makes another main stakeholder.
That is the last thing we want.
We can clearly see how we are going to raise money for exploration, and make the register more diverse in the future, as we proceed to production.

Very good addicknt, but I remember, describing about a year ago, that I said one way to defend, was to make the book more diverse and bring in more interested parties, and dilute BHP and Newcrest, as part of the defense.
You told me I didn't know what I was talking about, and said it wouldn't happen. ( along with others )
So next prediction, to give you another chance to say I am wrong.
We will get a PFS of over 7 billion dollars, and we will get funding for Alpala, without a JV.
What we have, doesn't require a JV, as we can proceed alone.

So you say it yourself, BHP have not bid. They can bid at any time.
They could have bid, when in standstill, just give NM a fair value bid.
You have to ask yourself, why not.
Does anyone believe that the issuing of 5 million dollars of shares, is going to force a bid, or bidding war. That would be silly.
Quite the opposite, it shows he can bring in other investors, and make the book even more diverse and defend a takeover.
This will not be the final stakeholder we bring onboard.

If NM had increased BHP's or Newcrest's holding, then I could see your point.
But he has excluded them and albeit ever so slightly, brought another interested party onboard, and made the book even more diverse, which is what I predicted just over a year ago, as a increased defense.
This is proceeding as I said it would.
