Nope. The bid that was short covering has gone. Now the stock drifts lower. Weak oil. Weak global markets. Covid resurgence. The stock could easily be a lot lower. For those with a 3-5 year view these levels are likely reasonable for accumulation. For many others (including, quite possibly, many of the institutions that got stock as a result of the Sothic Capital wind up) it's bottle, bottle, bottle.

The corporations. First bond issue from GKP, like Genel. Then all the IOC start bidding, or rather purchase on open market.

If a company wishes to purchase another company, rarely does it make sense to start pushing the price up by bidding in the open market.

I missed the update on Sep 23.

And I should have said "the last couple of weeks" rather than "the last few days". If they are indeed done we can expect the stock to drift lower without additional impetus on the bid. I suspect, given the rate they've been buying back, there might still be a little more to go but unlikely much. Who's going to replace them on the bid?

So we can infer Voleon's short fell from 0.7% to less than 0.5% and that's about it. Quite probably why the stock has been up the last few days. The question now is whether that bid has now fallen away...

Likely they weren't actually there to begin with. Data analysis error. You might also ask why Fiera Capital didn't file at 5% +1. I don't think Orient Capital has gotten to the bottom of this one yet. (Obviously the onus to file is on the holder. The company is a spectator.)

What do you expect in the short term? We have at least the following headwinds (in no particular order):

- no CEO (an appointment could be a catalyst)
- without a CEO and with a business cautious in the face of COVID demand impacts there's no company buyback bid
- looming COVID second wave in Europe with the impact that will have on oil consumption and its price; as we move into winter it will be interesting if the US follows
- the next 6 weeks will be the most vile democratic competition ever seen in the world's largest economy with all the pressures that will place on US equities which remain in need of further correction. It is unlikely that global stocks and this stock won't be affected by their movement

I like the stock as a 3-5 bagger from these levels over the next 3 -5 years but would be rather surprised if it's not in the mid 60s pence in the short term.

I agree with your last point but I don't use the rearview mirror to arrive at that conclusion. That said, I don't see many near-term catalysts and as I have said before there needs to be significant rotation of the share register. Personally I don't think today and yesterday's optimism will last long. But then, who knows...
