Looking back, I am now of the opinion that Caldwell's 30c blooper was a calculated way of testing the water and not enough stink was kicked up about it at the time. I now think that gave the Chinks the encouragement to offer around that level, which would have been what bid 1 was IMO

Bonkers, it's a poorly programmed profanity filter. When this website was built (in classic ASP) there were no matching functions in that language to ignore case so a common technique was to use the LOWER function to convert all text to lower case then compare it to a list of lower case profanities thus removing the complexity of considering all cases of all letters in a swear word.

The problem is that when they then replace the profanities with asterisks, they have done this to the lower case version of the text then passed it back out of the function to be displayed. If no profanities are spotted it returns the original text

It's just poor programming but us veterans can spot why it happens a mile off.

one of the best examples i saw of digital propaganda and deceit was when the whistleblower video came on on some puff called jordan peterson that worked for pfizer where he was filmed undercover bragging about what the mrna vaccines and development were trying to achieve. he had been stitched up believing he was on a *** date and was bragging to impress the undercover reporter.

as the video dropped and was spread, information started disappearing off the internet and google was rapidly changing to cover up the story. i did two google searches an hour apart and the second one said "it looks like information about this search is changing rapidly"

within 24 hours, his linkedin had also vanished off the face of the earth, he was gone off pfizer's organisational charts, he was gone off all google search results looking for anything shady about him. they acted fast to cover up what was said

this is the dishonesty we live with when a few massive corporations control what information we are allowed to see and use.

You raise an interesting and valid point. We are now at a stage where any version of any truth or lie can be spread so widely that surely we are unable to trust anything as concrete fact? Propaganda units like the BBC try to counter this with laughable further propaganda like "BBC Verify"

Let us go back to the 80s or 90s and use politics as an example. Very few were interested in talking about it let alone debating it. But bring in widespread propaganda like 24/7 news and social media and suddenly everybody is an expert. It could simply be that the truth was even more tightly controlled back then but my view is that stupid people didn't have an opinion on politics, or climate change, or investments. They just concentrated on what mattered to them which was anything from raising a dumb family in a semi in suburbia with a fat frumpy wife and a Citroen Picasso (sorry Quady) to the more adventurous but equally intellectually dumb people who resided in council houses and lived for weekends in the club as well as their Beer, Burgers, Bingo and Benidorm lifestlyes.

One of the world's greatest inventions, the internet, has also turned out to be one of its worst. And AI is the latest cancer that can and will be used to spread propaganda to the many for the benefit of the few. I'd be amazed if I am wrong on this one.

Another similar concept is the endless reams of clickbait YouTube and TikTok shyte. Staged or AI produced content for the sake of content sake to appease people with an unlimited appetite for BS

The world has different climates in different places. If it's too hot to grow crops in one place, it will be ideal in another. It's absolute BS, I've got no idea why you are dim enough to fall for it. I would stop hanging onto your peer reviewed hat too, all it means is paid for.

If you fund scientists, you get them to tell you what you want to hear and that is what is happening. Serious scientists either toe the line to get the money they need or if they have ethics they choose not to get involved.

Why it's a particularly clever scam is that it both peddles fear and sneering superiority at the same time. Fear into the sheep who think the weather is worse now than last year because the BBC tells them so, and sneering superiority by peddling fake science at people like you who like to think that you understand the thesis and so it must be true.

The only section of society they can't corner are the critical thinkers. People like me who question why was CO2 ppm 8x higher or more millions of years ago when humans didn't walk the Earth? What caused that? Why isn't that the cause again?

And it goes further than that. First you have to believe the planet is "warming" anyway - we know the Met office and others have spliced and falsified datasets to suit what their agenda is. And of course there is the old chestnut that temperature is not an additive measure so it can't be averaged anyway.

Put simply, if it is 20C in London and it is 10C in Aberdeen, there is no guarantee that is 15C in Newcastle. Averages are meaningless across intensive properties.

To understand climate change fully, all you have to do is follow the money. Look at who is pulling the levers and why they are doing it. The big clue here is that it isn't to save the planet or you and I.
