I'm no expert but personally I think a great place to start is The Naked Trader book. He has very clear and sensible rules, for example he vehemently argues against averaging down (sorry to rub it in). It's written in an accessible style and worth read. There are lots of useful pieces of advice and guidance but I guess essentially the main message is let your winners run and cut any losers with stop losses quickly - never hold anything where you are 20% or more down.

Agreed. Even a 1% dividend would only be £3.6 million out of the £101.8m currently in the kitty. An acquisition and a dividend should be on the cards.

Traditionally Serica release an Operations Update RNS before the end of January. Hopefully some positive news in the immediate pipeline...

I'm sure this has been posted before (in fact I know an edited article was linked earlier today), but there are some helpful explanations from TCW about the impact on Serica of what has happened and their contingency plans. Sorry I didn't mean to imply that a dividend would be paid, just that dividends were mentioned as part of their ongoing strategy in the July 26 RNS. Apologies.

It may be slightly premature but dividends were mentioned in half-year RNS from June too. As with all of these types of companies it is high risk but there aren't many other companies with this valuation reporting such substantial profits.

Considering the company has a market cap of approx £11 million it's very good.

I received an e-mail from HL -slightly odd (concerning?) situation: Unfortunately we are unable to provide any further information regarding the China Africa Resources stock dividend at this stage as we are yet to hear back from the share registrar since our last contact. We are not sure at this stage whether we will be able to process the share certificate and add the further shares to client's' accounts as we do not tend to deal with stock dividends on our clients' behalf; it may be that we will need to request that the dividend is paid as cash however we do not know at this stage. I have asked our nominees team to chase this with the share registrar again however unfortunately I cannot provide any timescale at this time.

Really pleasing results again, this appears to be a company really going places. Only 7 million shares in issue and recent Director buys mean they hold a significant chunk.
