The latest Investing Matters Podcast with Jean Roche, Co-Manager of Schroder UK Mid Cap Investment Trust has just been released. Listen here.
Even if they believe this it does not make sense to declare it publicly already, its like a football manager declaring defeat before extra time is over. I am also curious what his plans are after the war is over, as he says he is waiting for this moment, talking in this way sounds like he is preparing to reward a Russian victory somehow. Its quite clear from this statement Scholz is only supporting Ukraine to avoid breaking ranks with the EU and NATO.
Economic relations with the West is preventing China from engaging in conflicts, so if we clip those wings they would have nothing to lose. However, I think over time this will happen anyway, as labour costs in Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova are very significantly cheaper than China, and I surmise only the geopolitical risk has prevented companies like Apple and Tesla from manufacturing there, which would be highly advantageous considering the proximity to Europe and the access to abundant raw materials, including copper, gold, and steel!
We used to have cheaper Talk Talk Internet but it kept cutting out, only Virgin gives us a stable connection where I'm living. My mobiles also 20 a month because I use over 30 gb data, but my original point was inflation is moving the bread line and there are a lot of people on it in the UK, and they shouldn't be forced to live on frozen crap, it will cause a mental health epidemic and riots outside of Westminster.
I've never had to live off Universal Credit but ask yourself how easy it is to buy all your food and pay all your bills with only £400 a month, with all this inflation its going to get even harder. Monthly food costs alone are £200-300 a month, if you cook everything, and then you're only left with £100 for utilities including gas, water, electric, internet and mobile! My virigin Internet bill alone is £52 a month and my mobile is £20 a month.
@roxy2020 I divested away from POG at 2.4 P and purchaed Poly at £2.30 on the same day, because I considered that both have similar upside but Poly has significantly lower risk, if I were personally in the same position as you without any loss than I wouldn't hesitate to move my investment into Poly. Even if you don't pick Poly there are many other opportunities in the stock and crypto market for great profit, including JCGI and Tesla. I'm also watching for when BTC gets down to 14K.
@Roxy2020 The moex price is a few multiples higher in theory but until we can exchange GBP for Rub, we don't actually know what's the accurate value of Rub, and hence all of the Moex shares. Also, as things stand now they could pay Moex price to everybody there and LSE price to everyone here, until we are also allowed to sell on the Moex. So there won't likely be any fair sale value for LSE guys until those restrictions are lifted.
@roxy2020 it's because UMMC are quoted as only bidding close to the market price of 1.5p.
Poly also reportedly wants their autoclave, it would be interesting to learn how much that autoclave is worth.
Now that most of Luhansk is captured and Donetsk is almost surrounded, he likely began to consider returning to the Minsk agreement, as this would have sped up the process, without loss of life and destruction. However, judging from todays headlines it seems Zelensky is being convinced to fight on with the 50 billion defence aid package in hand, this level of support is unlikely to continue in the long term however, as the effects of global recession shift priorities in allied nations, so he will take this opportunity to fight them off but he wont get many more.
Gold was rising but then it was hit with interest rate rises, at the moment it is consolidating around 1.8K USD an ounce before another attack on 2K USD per ounce, so it needs to flip 2K into support before it can see a sustained rally. It also needs the Fed to capitulate and let the money printer keep going brrrr.
Arbitrage is possible so long as Ruble can be exchanged for GBP and also be transferred between countries. We will also get to see a more fair value on the LSE when this happens and its nice to hear they care about us in Russia.
Fresh food is also money and is more important than gold XD
The problem is the nations who are making these sanctions won't starve and Boris created 91,000 unemployed people to fund the Ukraine conflict, so if he is willing to sacrifice the welfare of Brits, why would he be above sacrificing people in those affected countries? The moves these leaders are making I'm even suspicious our lives could even become foreign aid in this conflict.
The chip issue is only temporary until they start their own manufacturing, it should still give Ukraine an advantage during that period though as you can't spin up industrial scale chip production over night.
I suspect some people have already read the proposed statement due to today's rise. However, I prefer the price hovers in the £2.50 range, so I can fill my bag in June with my annual bonus. I have a really strong gut feeling Polymetal is a winner.
It is a financial update that discusses revenue from what I've read up.
They would need to pay between 5-10B to have a realistic chance and they reportedly only have 3-4 bill, so they would be better off buying on the open market or enquiring with institutions to acquire their stake.
I think after months of talking up the prospects of war they are creating these headines to calm people down before everyone hops on a plane.
I grabbed my loan several days before my BoE rate hike and my credit score was decent cos I had absolutely zero debt.
Yeah crypto bear markets are too dangerous for loans but the flip side is you can make hefty profit without any leverage, hence why the hodl movement is so strong there. I also cashed out all my crypto before Christmas last year when I found the right arm of that big head and shoulder on the monthly. Crypto follows TA very religiously.
The loan was only roughly 3 months of my annual salary, so its only a minor knock if it goes wrong, I'm also not paying rent where I live XD
