Saga down 5% today....1 Jun 2020 20:07
...on a day when Carnival rose by 7%, despite the likelihood of its being turfed out of the FTSE100 this week. Short-term movements are certainly very difficult to predict, or rationalise.
So I topped up again at 20p, though I could have done slightly better (with hindsight), but I feel you canβt afford to be out of Saga at this point, because significant positive news could come at any moment, for example:
- update on restarting cruises following reopening of hospitality generally on 4 July?
- news on date of delivery of Spirit of Adventure (11/20?)
- abandonment by govt of 14-day quarantine for travellers?
- upbeat trading update at AGM on 22/6/20?
Sagaβs well-heeled client base will be champing at the bit to get away after spending months locked down. There will be inconveniences on board, of course, but no more so than if you stayed at home, with all this disruptive social distancing in public places. Most will definitely prefer the view from their porthole than the one from their kitchen window.
Last weekβs dramatic SP action showed the huge potential for this share, when it looked like it could even hit 30p. When it next takes off, it wonβt stop there...
