Thanks. This is helpful. I'm feeling better about maybe getting back in. I didn't know that Racing Point was self funding. It must have been other ventures that sent Vijaya Mallya into receivership. How does the 20 million compare to what AML was paying for sponsorship of Red Bull?
I've been on this board a while. I bought shares in mid-October and sold in November for a quick 50% gain. I wanted to see what happens with the 1 for 20 reverse split before committing longer term. My concern is that between Stroll and Mercedes owning a controlling interest, retail investors have little say. Both Stroll and Mercedes have an interest in keeping Racing Point / Aston Martin well financed in Formula 1. Assuming DBX is a smashing success, what is to keep AML from syphoning sponsorship dollars to Racing Point thus squeezing the margin and running this AML Choo Choo off track? I don't see the incentive for either Stroll or Mercedes to put AML profits into gains for retail investors.
Well the price did go past 70, though I don't think Lance was the reason. I believe he did prove his skill as a driver, however, and deserves his spot regardless of who owns the team. Still it is a pitty that he did not see or feel anything when his front wing sustained damage. It would have cost time in the pits to replace it. It probably would have cost him first place or even a podium, but better than where he ended up. A lot of racing is luck and more opportunities will come to Lance as his career progresses.
I agree with Syncs. I am an American and most of us agree that we have just dodged a bullet. Democracy was on the ropes in the way that Germany was in the late 30's. We now have a president who will respect the rule of law and not treat the government as his own Mafia-style crime family. The markets will take care of themselves. Big business has plenty of love for both parties, and the 1% will continue to prosper and buy expensive cars.
I agree with Richard. The modern EV chassis is a pancake of batteries on which you can place a body of various wheel bases, widths, and body styles. Gone are the days of sharing a chassis between internal combustion and electric power units.
One thing that is not clear to me is if the new agreement with Mercedes gives AML immediate access to their latest MBUX infotainment and driver interface electronics. One glaring feature of Aston's new SUV is that it uses Mercedes previous generation electronics. While this may not matter as much in a sports car, I would think anyone spending this much money on a new SUV would want the latest goodies. If MBUX is now part of the agreement, how soon could it be fit into the DBX?
